  If the Toro Lawn Mower engine does not start, starts hard, or fails to keep running, first, ensure the fuel tank is full. Then, open the fuel-shutoff valve. Check the oil level in the crankcase and add oil if needed. Make sure the throttle control is midway between the slow and fast positions. If these steps don't work, the fuel filter may need replacing, the air cleaner might be dirty (clean or replace it), or the spark plug could be fouled (adjust or replace it). Also, check that the spark-plug wire is connected and that the seat switch is working correctly. Inspect the electrical connections for corrosion or damage, cleaning and reconnecting as necessary.
