AdjustingtheParkingBrake
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst100hours
Every500hoursthereafter
Checktomakesurethatthebrakeisadjustedproperly.This
proceduremustbefollowedaftertherst100hoursorwhen
abrakecomponenthasbeenremovedorreplaced.
1.Drivethemachineontoalevelsurface.
2.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),movethe
motioncontrolleverstotheneutrallockedposition
andsettheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethekey.
4.Raisethebackofthemachineupandsupportthe
machinewithjackstands.
DANGER
Mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmayfailto
supportmachineandcauseaseriousinjury.
Usejackstandwhensupportingmachine.
Donotusehydraulicjacks.
5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.
6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.
7.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletothereleased
position.RefertotheUsingtheDriveWheel
ReleaseValvessectioninOperation.
8.Measuretheoveralllengthofthecompressionspring.
Thecorrectlengthshouldbebetween3.8and4.0
cm(1-1/2and1-9/16inches).Ifthespringlengthis
withinthisrange,noadjustmentisneeded.Ifitisnot,
proceedtostep9.
9.Holdthethreadedrodendwithatoolandadjustthe
locknutuntilthespringlengthisbetween3.8and4.0
cm(1-1/2and1-9/16inches);refertoFigure72.Do
notallowthecabletoturnwhenthenutsarebeing
loosened.

10.Releasetheparkingbrake.Turnthewheelhubbyhand
inbothdirectionsrelativetothecaliper;nodragofthe
caliperpadonthewheelhubisdesired.
11.Ifthereisnomovementbetweenthehubandthe
caliper,thenrepeattheadjustment(drivereleasevalves
mustbeinthereleasedpositiononthehydros).
12.Afteradjustingthebrakesonbothsidesofthemachine,
cyclethebrakehandleaminimumof6timestoallow
thecabletoseatintothesheathandmountingtabs.
13.Checkthespringlength;engagetheparkingbrakeand
repeatsteps8through11ifthelengthisnotinthe
correctrange.
14.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletotheoperating
position.RefertotheUsingtheDriveWheel
ReleaseValvessectioninOperation.
15.Installthereartiresandtorquethelugnutsbetween
122and129N-m(90and95ft-lb).
16.Removethejackstands.
