Overview

This document is the Owner's Manual for Toshiba Air Conditioners (Split Type), specifically for 4-way Cassette Indoor Units with model names RAV-HM561UTP-E, RAV-HM801UTP-E, RAV-HM901UTP-E, RAV-HM1101UTP-E, RAV-HM1401UTP-E, and RAV-HM1601UTP-E. These units are designed for commercial use and utilize R32 refrigerant.

Function Description

The Toshiba air conditioner is designed to provide cooling and heating for commercial spaces. It operates as a split-type system, with an indoor 4-way cassette unit and an outdoor unit. The system uses R32 refrigerant, which is an HFC (Hydrofluorocarbon) that does not destroy the ozone layer. The indoor unit features a suction air port where room air is drawn in, an air filter to remove dust, and a discharge louver that directs the conditioned air. The outdoor unit includes an air intake, air discharge, piping panel, wiring hole, and refrigerant pipe outlet.

The air conditioner is controlled via a wired remote controller (model RBC-ASCU1*). This controller allows users to:

  • Turn the unit ON/OFF.
  • Select the running mode (Auto, Heat, Dry/Dehumidify, Cool, Fan).
  • Adjust the fan speed (Auto, Low, Low+, Med, Med+, High, Fix).
  • Set the desired temperature within a range of 18.0°C to 29.0°C, with 0.5°C sensitivity.
  • Control the louver direction for air discharge, offering six steps for heating/fan mode and four steps for cooling/dry mode. An auto-swing function is also available.
  • Set a timer for the unit to turn off, with settings from 0.5 hours up to 24 hours.
  • Access a "Self Clean" mode to dry the inside of the indoor unit after cooling/dry/auto (cooling) operation, helping to keep it clean. The self-clean time varies from 1 to 2 hours depending on the prior operation duration.
  • View various indicators on the LCD, including running mode, central control, setting, repair, test run, temperature setting, wind direction, louver position, louver locking, fan speed, timer off, pre-heat, remote controller sensor, and notice displays.
  • Access troubleshooting history, which can record up to four past issues, displaying check codes and faulted indoor unit numbers.

The unit also features an 8°C heating operation mode for pre-heating, which requires specific settings via the wired remote controller.

Maintenance Features

  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filters should be cleaned when the filter indicator is displayed on the remote controller. Clogged filters can reduce performance. This task should be performed by a qualified installer or service person due to working at heights.
  • Long-Term Storage: Before extended periods of non-use, it is recommended to perform fan operation for a few hours to dry the inside, then stop the unit, turn off the circuit breaker, and clean/reinstall the air filters.
  • Drain Pan Cleaning: The drain pan should be cleaned before the cooling season to prevent clogging, overflow, and potential water damage. This should be done by a dealer.
  • Periodic Checks: Regular maintenance (at least once a year, or every 3 months for units operating 8+ hours daily) is recommended for both indoor and outdoor units to ensure efficient operation and extend product life. This includes checking for dust/dirt clogging, abnormal sounds, vibration, damage, rust, and peeling of insulation/coat.
  • Professional Service: For any repairs, relocation, or complex maintenance tasks (e.g., electrical work, refrigerant handling, working at heights), it is crucial to contact a qualified installer or service person. Users are warned against attempting these tasks themselves due to safety risks.
  • Safety Precautions: Before any maintenance or inspection, the circuit breaker must be turned OFF to prevent electric shocks. Do not touch aluminum fins or rotating parts.
  • Environmental Considerations: Regular cleaning and maintenance contribute to environmental conservation by ensuring efficient operation.
