  • Electrical Safety (for battery-operated tools): Avoid bodily contact with grounded surfaces. Do not expose the tool to rain or wet conditions.
  • Personal Security: Always stay alert, use common sense, and avoid operating the tool when tired or under the influence of substances. Wear personal protective equipment including eye protection, dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat, and hearing protection. Avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Ensure the switch is in the "OFF" position before connecting to a power source or moving the tool. Remove adjusting wrenches before turning on the tool. Properly connect and use dust extraction/collection devices.
  • Tool and Battery Care: Recharge batteries only with the manufacturer-specified charger. Use only specifically designated batteries. Keep batteries away from metal objects to prevent shorting. Avoid contact with battery fluid; if contact occurs, rinse with water and seek medical help if it gets into eyes. Do not use damaged or modified batteries or tools. Do not expose batteries or tools to fire or excessive heat (above 130°C). Follow all charging instructions within the specified temperature range (10°C - 40°C / 50°F - 104°F).
  • Service: Have the tool serviced by qualified personnel using manufacturer-recommended replacement parts. Do not attempt to repair damaged batteries; this must be done by the manufacturer or authorized distributors.

Battery Usage and Maintenance:

  • Charge the battery cartridge before it is fully discharged. Stop operation and charge when less power is noticed.
  • Never recharge a fully charged battery cartridge to avoid shortening battery life.
  • Charge the battery cartridge at room temperature (10°C - 40°C / 50°F - 104°F). Allow hot cartridges to cool before charging.
  • Charge the battery cartridge if not used for a long time (more than six months).
  • Installation/Removal: Always turn off the tool before installing or removing the battery. Hold both the tool and battery cartridge firmly to prevent slipping and damage. To remove, slide the button on the front of the cartridge and slide it out. To install, align the tab with the slot and slide it in until it clicks; ensure the red indicator is not visible, indicating it's fully locked. Do not force the cartridge.

Tool Operation:

  • Starting/Stopping: To start, slide the switch to the "I" (ON) position. For continuous operation, press the front of the slide switch to lock it. To stop, press the rear of the slide switch and then slide it to the "O" (OFF) position.
  • Spindle Lock: Engage the spindle lock only when the spindle is stationary to prevent damage. Press the spindle lock to prevent rotation when installing or removing accessories.
  • Auxiliary Handle: Firmly screw the side grip into the designated position. This handle must be used at all times for full control.
  • Blade Guard Installation:
    • Clamping Lever Type: Loosen the screw and lever. Mount the guard with its projection aligned with the notch in the bearing housing. Rotate the guard to protect the operator. Squeeze the lever to hold. Adjust screw tightness if the lever is too tight or loose. Reverse steps to remove.
    • Locking Screw Type: Mount the guard with protrusions aligned with notches in the bearing frame. Rotate about 180° counterclockwise. Firmly tighten the screw. Reverse steps to remove.
    • General: When using depressed center/multi-disc grinding wheels, wire wheel brushes, cut-off wheels, or diamond wheels, the guard must be installed so the closed side faces the operator. Use special blade guards for abrasive diamond/cut-off wheels.
  • Disc Mounting (Optional Accessory):
    • Engage the spindle lock only when the spindle is not moving.
    • Mount the inner flange on the shaft. Place the wheel/disc on the inner flange and screw the locknut onto the axle.
    • To tighten, press the spindle lock and use the locknut wrench to tighten clockwise. Reverse to remove.
  • Abrasive Disc Installation (Optional Accessory):
    • Mount the rubber pad on the shaft. Place the disc on the rubber pad and screw the locknut onto the spindle.
    • To tighten, press the spindle lock and use the lock nut wrench to tighten securely clockwise. Reverse to remove.
    • Sander Use: Do not force the tool; its weight provides adequate pressure. Replace wheels if the tool is dropped. Do not hit the disc against the work. Prevent bouncing/snagging. Never use wood cutting attachments or saw blades.
    • Sanding/Polishing Operation: Hold the tool firmly with one hand on the housing and the other on the side handle. Turn on the tool, then apply to the workpiece. Keep the edge of the blade/disc at about a 15-degree angle to the workpiece surface.
    • Abrasive Cutting: Do not "jam" the disc or apply excessive pressure. Do not cut too deep. Do not start cutting on the workpiece; allow the wheel to reach full speed first. Do not change the blade angle during cutting. Use a diamond blade perpendicular to the material.
  • Wire Cup Brush Operation (Optional Accessory):
    • Remove battery, turn tool upside down for spindle access. Remove all accessories. Thread the wire cup brush onto the spindle and tighten with a wrench.
    • Avoid excessive pressure to prevent wire bending/breakage.
    • Circular Wire Brush: Check operation without load. Do not use damaged/unbalanced brushes. Always use the guard, ensuring the wheel diameter fits inside.
  • Work Tips: Useful for cutting metals (e.g., removing screw heads) and cleaning/preparing surfaces (e.g., before/after welding). Different disc types are available for various materials (mild steel, stainless steel, stone, brick, harder materials with diamond wheels). Do not force the sander. Maintain alignment when cutting slots to prevent disc breakage. For thin sheets, only allow the cutter to protrude slightly. Use a dust extractor for stone/brick cutting. Electronic control allows continuous speed preselection.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: Ensure the tool is unplugged (battery removed) before maintenance.
  • Cleaning: Keep ventilation slots clean and free of obstructions; blow compressed air into vents (wear safety glasses). Keep the outer casing clean and grease-free; use mild soap and a damp cloth. Do not wash with water, solvents, or abrasives. Do not immerse any part of the tool in liquid.
  • Lubrication: The grinder does not require additional lubrication.
  • Storage: Store the power tool in a safe, dry place.
  • Sparks: Small sparks from ventilation slots are normal and do not indicate damage.

Troubleshooting:

  • Not Working: Check the power supply (battery connection).
  • Disc Wobbles/Vibrates: Check that the outer flange is tight and the disc is correctly positioned.
  • Damaged Disc: Do not use damaged discs; remove and replace them. Dispose of old discs responsibly.
  • Clogged Disc: If working with aluminum or similar soft metals, the disc may clog and become ineffective.
  • Faults: If unable to resolve a fault, contact your official Total dealer.

Environmental Considerations:

  • Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste. Use separate collection facilities.
  • Contact local authorities for information on available collection systems.
  • Recycle raw materials instead of disposing of them as waste.
  • The machine, accessories, and packaging must be sorted for environmentally friendly recycling.
