Step 3
If available, connect a 24 volt AC test harness to the
serial port variable speed motor low voltage plug as
shown (Figure 4) and connect red and blue wires to
the 24 volt AC. If no harness is available, use jumpers
to make the required connections (Figure 5)

Does the serial port variable speed motor start
and run after a short delay to turn on?
Yes: Serial port variable speed motor is good. Check
the furnace IFC or the air handler control board.
No: Go to Step 6.
Step 6
Is there 120 volts at the gas furnace (Figure 6) or
240 volts AC at the air handler (Figure 7) serial
port variable speed motor, SPVS motor, high volt-
age plug?
Yes: If the motor turns freely, replace the SPVS motor.
No: Repair as needed and re-test.
