Current Transformer and Current Input
RTHC-SVD01B-EN 29
Note: The current transformers are polarity and directionally sensitive.
Visually inspect the current transformer for a dot that should be facing
the incoming power line.

WARNING
Live Electrical Components!
During installation, testing, servicing and troubleshooting of this prod-
uct, it may be necessary to work with live electrical components. Have a
qualified licensed electrician or other individual who has been properly
trained in handling live electrical components perform these tasks. Fail-
ure to follow all electrical safety precautions when exposed to live elec-
trical components could result in death or serious injury.
1. Check incoming 3-phase power for voltage within 10% of nominal
per chiller nameplate.
2. Confirm that the Overload Settings #1 and #2 are set correctly.
Determine the CT Factor. Refer to paragraph 4-1.
If there is any question as to which current transformer is causing
a problem, or simply to verify and “witness” the problem, an
attempt should be made to restart the chiller after clearing diag-
nostics. The diagnostics can be cleared by entering the Diagnos-
tics Menu and stepping to the “Press Enter to Clear Active
Diagnostics” display.
3. At start-up, verify that the appropriate contactor(s) pull-in. Record
the exact diagnostic(s) produced.
WARNING
Hazardous Voltage!
Disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects before ser-
vicing. Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power
can not be inadvertently energized. Failure to disconnect power before
servicing could result in death or serious injury.
4. For the next portion of the procedure, pull the unit's disconnect
and interrupt all high voltage power to the control panel. Locate
the torroid (doughnut) current transformers encircling the com-
pressor power wiring and branching to the compressor contactors
in the control panel. Refer to the Component Location Drawing in
the panel to identify the current transformer(s). Locate the part
number/UL tag on the transformer leads and note the Trane part
number which identifies the transformers. Verify the proper cur-
rent transformer using 4-1 in this section.
