What to do if my Trane SCIH unit does not operate?
    • P
      Paul MolinaAug 1, 2025
First, check for any blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers and replace or reset them if needed. Also, the thermostat setting might be too high, so check the unit and reset it. If the thermostat is out of calibration or defective, consider replacing it. Make sure all other settings are correct.

How to fix noisy operation in a Trane Air Conditioner?
    • M
      Monica SuttonAug 8, 2025
Try adjusting the tubes by bending them slightly to secure their position without touching other parts of the unit. Ensure the unit base is level and fully supported. Check and tighten any loose screws. Tighten the screws on the fan wheel shaft. Adjust the wheel position on the motor shaft. If these steps don't resolve the noise, consider replacing the fan motor or fan bearing.

Why does the fan run but the compressor not start in my Trane Air Conditioner?
    • M
      Michelle HerreraAug 16, 2025
Check the power supply to ensure the voltage is within the acceptable range. Inspect the control unit for loose wires and tighten any loose connections. Examine the contacts for loose wire connections, broken or burned spots; replace if defective. Look for refrigerant leaks and repair them, then recharge the unit. Tug on the wires to check if they separate from the connections; replace terminals if necessary. Check for shorts, opens, and grounds; remove and replace the compressor if needed. Replace the compressor if necessary.

What to do if my Trane SCIH is held off by safety?
    • K
      Katie JenkinsAug 25, 2025
First, check if the unit cutout on high pressure control. For SCIH it should be set at 395 psig, or 609 psig for SCIJ. Make sure the airflow is not interrupted and that the low ambient damper is set properly, allowing condensing temperatures of 90–135°F. Then, reset the high pressure switch to start. Also, check if the unit is low on refrigerant charge. If so, repair the leak and recharge the unit. Check if the air filter is dirty or has an airflow restriction, and correct the problem. Locate any restriction by inspecting refrigerant lines for temperature changes. Remove the restriction, evacuate, and recharge. Replace any defective parts. Evacuate, replace the element, and recharge. Check for loose connections.
