Usage Features

Installation Guidelines:

  • Foundation: Units must be installed on a leveled and reinforced concrete foundation, with a minimum height of 50 mm (1.97"). They should be fixed with bolts (not supplied).
  • Clearances:
    • Concrete foundation: at least 250 mm (9.84") away from walls or shrubbery.
    • Air inlet sides: minimum 250 mm (9.84").
    • Air discharge side: minimum 1200 mm (47.24").
    • Maintenance: minimum 300 mm (11.81") on one side.
    • Overall minimum clearance for proper ventilation: 600 mm (23.62") above the unit.
  • Roof Mounting: If mounted on a roof, ensure the roof can support the unit's weight. Proper vibration isolation is recommended.
  • Refrigerant Line Connection: Involves cutting and deburring tubes, insulating lines, flanging the tube ends, applying refrigerant oil, aligning and hand-tightening the nut, and finally tightening to specified torque values.
  • System Evacuation: Essential after installation to remove non-condensable gases and moisture. The system should be evacuated to 350 microns (5.9 x 10⁻² inHg). If the vacuum gauge reading exceeds 500 microns (8.3 x 10⁻² inHg) within one minute, it indicates incomplete evacuation or a system leakage.
  • Multi-Function Service Valve (Liquid Line): The units are supplied with a multi-function service valve and a restrictor kit. For indoor units without their own expansion device, the factory-installed passage orifice must be replaced with an appropriate restrictor from the kit, based on the indoor unit model.
  • Electrical Connections:
    • Wires from the compressor casing must not touch refrigerant tubes or the compressor.
    • Installation and grounding must comply with IEC 335-2-40: 2002 and local codes/NEC.
    • Power supply must match unit nameplate specifications.
    • An exclusive overcurrent protection circuit-breaker is required for the outdoor unit.
    • Flexible electric conduits are recommended where vibrations might introduce noise.
    • Appropriate color-coded wires should be used for command connections between indoor and outdoor units.
    • Wiring diagrams are provided for different indoor unit models (MCW, MCX, MCD) and power supply configurations (single power supply point for both units or for each unit).

System Start-Up: A comprehensive checklist is provided to ensure proper system operation:

  • Verify correct refrigerant and electric connections.
  • Check for foreign materials or tools on the equipment.
  • Check for possible leaks at connections.
  • Ensure lines are well insulated and passages through piping structure are insulated.
  • Verify free water drains.
  • Ensure insufflation and return grids are free and unobstructed, and air filters are clean.
  • Check thermostat accuracy with an inspected thermometer.
  • Confirm proper grounding.
  • Check power voltage, fuse/circuit-breaker ratings, and adequate wire sizes.
  • Verify tight field wiring connections and ensure electric wires do not touch refrigerant pipes.
  • Check remote control batteries.

Maintenance Features

The manual emphasizes the importance of proper installation and adherence to instructions to ensure the longevity and reliable operation of the unit. While specific maintenance schedules are not detailed in this installation manual, it highlights that the warranty is void if the equipment is modified or repaired without written approval from Trane, if operating limits are exceeded, or if the control system or electrical wiring is modified. It also states that damage due to inappropriate installation, lack of knowledge, or failure to comply with manufacturer's instructions is not covered by the warranty.

The document serves as a critical guide for qualified technicians to install the TTK series condensing units correctly, ensuring safety and optimal performance. It contains warnings and cautions to prevent potential hazards and ensure proper unit function.
