Overview

The Triton Elina is a sequential built-in thermostatic mixer valve designed for showering applications. It is Kiwa certified (Type 3 TMV, 86002260), indicating compliance with specific performance standards, particularly for healthcare premises (D 08 specification).

Function Description:

The Triton Elina thermostatic mixer valve blends hot and cold water supplies to deliver a constant, safe showering temperature. It features anti-scald protection, which means that if there is a loss of flow to either incoming supply, the water from the shower will stop or be significantly reduced until both supplies are restored, preventing scalding. The mixed water temperature can be adjusted from cold to a pre-set top limit, with full anti-scald protection throughout the range. The valve is designed for built-in installation within a solid wall, stud partition wall, dry-lined wall, or fixed to a shower cubicle or panel.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Water Pressure Requirements (Designation: HP-S):
    • Running pressure (Gravity fed - LP): 0.2 bar min. to 1.0 bar max.
    • Running pressure (Mains fed - HP): 1.0 bar min. to 5.0 bar max.
    • Maximum static water pressure (Gravity and mains): 10 bar.
    • NOTE: TYPE 3 approval is applicable only to HP systems.
  • Water Minimum Flow Rate: For best performance, a minimum flow of 8 litres per minute should be available to both inlets.
  • Water Temperature Requirements:
    • Maximum hot water temperature: 80°C
    • TYPE3 Recommended maximum hot water temperature: 65°C
    • Minimum hot water temperature: 55°C
    • Maximum cold water temperature: 20°C
    • Minimum cold water temperature: 5°C
    • Minimum temperature differential: 10°C (hot water supply must remain a minimum of 10°C hotter than the required blend temperature for optimum performance).
    • The mixer shower MUST NOT be subjected to water temperatures above 80°C.
  • Building-in Depth: A minimum of 55mm from the plaster finish to the valve body is required, dependent on tile and adhesive thicknesses.
  • Pipework Centres: Approximately 150mm between incoming hot and cold water supply pipes for rear entry.
  • Outlet Pipework: Must end in a suitable female thread parallel 15mm x ½" BSP fitting (not supplied).
  • Threaded Connector Protrusion: The threaded connector for the bulkhead should protrude from the finished wall surface between 8mm and 13mm.
  • Product Code: 86002260.
  • Dimensions:
    • Overall width (cover plate): Ø165mm.
    • Overall height (cover plate): Ø165mm.
    • Valve body depth: 132.5mm (with 32.5mm to 20-52mm adjustment).
    • Valve body width: Ø68mm.
  • Product Flow Rates (for guidance only, at 38°C outlet temperature, flow control fully open, open outlet - no hose or shower head connected, inlet temperatures comply with EN1111 requirements):
    • 0.1 bar: 7.0 l/m
    • 0.2 bar: 10.0 l/m
    • 0.3 bar: 12.5 l/m
    • 0.4 bar: 15.0 l/m
    • 0.5 bar: 17.0 l/m
    • 1.0 bar: 25.5 l/m
    • 2.0 bar: 38.0 l/m
    • 3.0 bar: 47.5 l/m
    • 4.0 bar: 51.5 l/m
    • 5.0 bar: 63.0 l/m

Usage Features:

  • Temperature Control: The mixed water temperature can be adjusted from cold to a pre-set maximum. The factory pre-set maximum temperature is approximately 38°C, but this can be adjusted during installation. For healthcare premises (D 08 specification), the maximum set temperature should not exceed 41°C. For domestic installations where D 08 is not required, the maximum temperature setting should not exceed 46°C.
  • Flow Control: The shower is started by turning the on/off temperature control anti-clockwise.
  • Thermal Safety: The mixer has a temperature stop to prevent accidental rotation to higher temperatures. In case of cold water supply failure, the flow from the shower should stop immediately or reduce to a trickle, with the water temperature remaining below 43°C, ensuring no risk of scalding.
  • Compatibility: Suitable for gravity water systems, pumped gravity systems, fully modulating type combination boilers, multi-point hot water heaters, thermal storage, and unvented systems.
  • Flow Regulation: Flow regulators are supplied for use with high-pressure water systems to reduce flow rate and assist economy.

Maintenance Features:

  • Integral Filters: The mixer inlets contain removable filters that may become blocked by debris. These filters should be cleaned regularly. Access to the filters is improved if incoming and outgoing pipework is routed from the same direction.
  • In-Service Testing: Regular testing of the mixer valve is crucial to prevent scalding and ensure user safety. This involves checking the blend temperature at 38°C and isolating the cold water supply to verify that the outlet flow rate reduces to a safe level. A testing record page is provided in the manual for documenting commissioning and in-service test results.
  • Cleaning: The product should be cleaned using warm, soapy water. Abrasive or solvent cleaning fluids should NOT be used as they can damage the surface finish and fittings, invalidating the guarantee.
  • Disinfection: If chlorine is used for water system disinfection, relevant guidelines and approved codes of practice must be strictly followed to avoid invalidating the guarantee.
  • Accessibility: For future cleaning and maintenance, it is advisable to route both incoming and outgoing pipework from the same direction. Access to the rear of the valve must be available for maintenance.
  • Service Policy: Triton offers a service policy for products installed within the UK, requiring customers to contact Customer Experience for fault resolution. Proof of purchase is required for in-guarantee calls.
  • Replacement Parts: Triton retains functional spares for as long as there is a market for them, and parts can be ordered via their online store or by phone.
