Why Troy-Bilt 420 engine fails to start?
    • J
      Juan ReynoldsAug 20, 2025
Several factors can prevent your Troy-Bilt Chipper's engine from starting. Ensure the throttle lever is in the FAST or START position. Check that the spark plug wire is connected and the choke is in the CHOKE position. The fuel tank should be filled with clean, fresh gasoline, and the engine should be primed as instructed in the Engine Manual. Also, inspect the spark plug (clean, adjust the gap, or replace if necessary) and the fuel line (clean if blocked). If the engine is flooded, wait a few minutes before attempting to restart without priming.
