  If your True Freezer's compressor is running but not refrigerating, start by checking the refrigerant charge. Also, inspect the evaporator surface to see if it's evenly cold. If the suction pressure is abnormally low, examine the capillary tube, evaporator capacity, and system for restrictions. For abnormally high discharge pressure, clean the condenser, check the condenser fan, and remove any air from the system. Finally, check the compressor amperage draw.

  If the compressor of your True Freezer won't run, make sure the capacitors are discharged. Check for continuity between each capacitor terminal and the protector(s). If available, substitute a 'known to be good' start capacitor. Check the compressor suction and discharge pressures while the compressor is operating. If the voltage is below 90% of the nameplate voltage, clean the condenser, purge air from the system, or replace the crankcase pressure regulating valve. Check for defective capacitor or relay preventing the compressor from starting. Check the relay for damaged or fused contacts. Remove all wires from terminals and check for continuity through the motor windings. Check the compressor amperage draw while operating. Replace the relay if there is no continuity.
