Overview

The TruXport is a soft roll-up truck bed cover designed to protect cargo in the truck bed from the elements and provide a secure storage space. It is specifically designed for RamBox installations, with detailed instructions for proper fitting and use.

Function Description:

The primary function of the TruXport cover is to provide a protective barrier over the truck bed. When closed, it helps to keep cargo clean and dry by shielding it from rain, snow, and dust. The roll-up design allows for full access to the truck bed when needed, making it versatile for various hauling needs. The cover is not airtight, so while it offers significant protection, users should be aware that some moisture or fine dust may still enter the bed. It also does not prevent theft of contents, as the fabric cover is not designed for high-security protection.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The TruXport cover requires a multi-step installation process. It begins with installing a bulkhead seal and foam block at the front of the truck bed, followed by corner seals on both the cab and tailgate ends. The cover rails are then inserted into the header rail of the rolled assembly. The entire cover assembly is lifted onto the existing cargo rails, with the bottom of the cover rail fitting into the top slot of the cargo rails. It is then slid forward until the cab rail seals make good contact with the bulkhead seals, and the cover is centered side-to-side. RamBox brackets are installed at opposite ends of the rails, sliding into the cover rail and the RamBox rail, and then tightened to secure the cover. Finally, tailgate corner seals are placed on the cover header panel.
  • Opening the Cover: To open the cover, the tailgate must be open. The user presses downward on one side latch to disengage it, then grasps the tailgate header to release the opposite latch. The cover can then be rolled up towards the cab. It is important not to disengage the hook and loop fasteners prior to rolling the cover.
  • Securing the Open Cover: When the cover is fully rolled up, it must be tightly rolled, securely cinched down with both retainer straps, and positioned away from the cab and window. A critical safety instruction is DO NOT STOW COVER AGAINST TRUCK CAB OR BACK WINDOW. This ensures visibility and prevents potential damage. If any part of the truck bed cover is worn or damaged, it must be rolled fully open and secured with retainer straps.
  • Closing the Cover: To close the cover, the retainer strap hooks are released, and the cover is unrolled over the truck bed. Each of the bows will sit on top of the rails. With the tailgate open, the tailgate header is hooked into the header stops on both sides of the truck. The tailgate header is then pushed down until the latches on both sides engage with the tailgate header, providing an audible click when fully engaged. To prevent wind lift, the hook and loop fasteners along the entire length of both side rails must be secured by pressing firmly.
  • Cover Tension: The latch assembly is factory set to the correct tension, and there is no need to adjust it. Any modification to the latch will void the warranty. To maintain cover tautness, users should periodically repeat the steps for securing the hook and loop fasteners and re-stretching the cover across the bed.
  • Cargo Management: Users are explicitly warned not to place objects on or against the cover or its framework, nor to tie cargo to the TruXport framework. This prevents damage to the cover and ensures safe operation.
  • Safety Precautions: Children or pets should never be allowed to occupy the pickup box while the cover is closed. When towing the vehicle backwards, the cover must be rolled fully open and secured with retainer straps. Clamps on the side rails must be tightened securely before driving to prevent the cover from blowing off.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The vinyl cover can be hand washed with mild soap and water or cleaned in a car wash. It should be thoroughly rinsed to remove any soap residue. The manual recommends using tested and approved Protex truck bed cleaner or any vinyl protectant specifically made for truck bed covers. A crucial warning is Never use any vinyl conditioners (e.g., Armor All®) that contain silicone, petroleum, or citrus-based products on your truck bed cover as they may crack and shrink the vinyl.
  • Latch Maintenance: For continued ease of operation, the hook and loop fasteners and the latch should be periodically cleaned with high-pressure water to remove dirt and dust.
  • Inspection: The owner/user is responsible for regularly inspecting their TruXport cover and having parts repaired or replaced when worn or damaged.
  • Warranty: The TruXport comes with a Five Year Limited Warranty covering defects in material and workmanship for new, unused products, provided it is properly installed and used as intended. The warranty applies to the original buyer only. Warranty registration must be on file, and proof of original purchase (a detailed and dated receipt) is required for the warranty to be effective. Registration can be done online at www.truxedo.com. The warranty does not cover used products, or products that have been repaired, altered, modified, subjected to misuse, negligence, accident, or ordinary wear and tear.

The TruXport is designed for ease of use and durability, providing a practical solution for truck bed protection with clear guidelines for installation, operation, and maintenance.
