3.4 HEAT UNITS
Heat storage and dissipate rating are based on HEAT UNITS. To determine the number of HEAT UNITS,
which you will apply to the X-Ray tube anode, multiply the exposure factors: kVp X mA X seconds = HEAT
UNITS. Thus a technique which calls for 80 kVp, 200 mA, and .50 second, produces 80 X 200 X .50 = 8000
HEAT UNITS.
This X-ray Generator is programmed for delivering energy for pre-determined techniques that do not exceed
the tube limits. You should become familiar with your tube rating charts, which are provided with your x-ray
tube.
3.5 SELF DIAGNOSIS INDICATORS
Self-Diagnosis indicators identify a malfunction or overload condition in the system alerting the operator
about error existence that inhibits exposure. During normal operation of the system, these indicators are
directly shown on the Console or as an error code on the MAS Display. (Also refer to Section 3.6).
GENERATOR OVERLOAD: “OL” indicates that the technique selected is beyond the X-ray tube ratings.
Choose an alternate technique (change the exposure values).
If the X-ray Tube Thermal circuit is preventing X-ray exposure (housing is too hot, wait for the X-ray Tube to
cool).
3.6 ERROR CODES
Error Codes indicate the potential cause of a system failure. They are intermittently shown on the MAS
Display.
All these error codes will enable the operator to indirectly convey the possible source of error to service
personnel. This may prevent the need for a service call or enable service personnel to anticipate corrective
actions prior to arriving on site.
