Appendix C-7 AFS Advanced Flight Systems EFIS Note
AFS models that support GDL90 traffic can receive traffic and weather from
the echoUAT. Some supported models are the 3400S, 4000 and 5000
series. Consult AFS to make sure your model is compatible.
The configuration requires connection to either pin 3 or pin 5 of the
echoUAT, depending on which GPS source you are using.
If using a GPS source that outputs NMEA at 115200 baud rate to pin 6 of
the echoUAT, you will connect to pin 5 for traffic output. See table 1 for the
configuration.
If using a Garmin GPS source on pin 6(COM2) of the echoUAT, connect to
pin 3(COM1 TX) on the echoUAT because the COM2 port will be too slow
for proper traffic reporting. Use the second table below for configuration
Weather and traffic are also supported using the AFS wireless adapter.
Note: No configuration or connections to the echoUAT are required for
wireless traffic.
The AFS serial port you connect to should be configured for ADS-B115K
The echoUAT should be configured to send traffic and weather to the AFS
EFIS by setting the following settings in the echo installer mobile
application.
1. For installations on echoUAT COM2 (pin 5)
