Overview

The Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand is a robust and versatile piece of equipment designed to provide stable and adjustable microphone positioning for professional studio environments. Its primary function is to securely hold microphones at various heights, lengths, and angles, allowing audio engineers and musicians to achieve optimal sound capture.

Function Description:

The MC-125 boom stand serves as a foundational support system for microphones, offering a high degree of flexibility in positioning. It is engineered to handle a variety of microphones, ensuring they remain steady during recording sessions. The stand's design incorporates multiple adjustment points, enabling precise control over microphone placement relative to sound sources. This precision is crucial for capturing desired audio nuances, minimizing unwanted reflections, and isolating specific instruments or vocals. The stand's ability to extend and retract, as well as adjust its height and angle, makes it adaptable to diverse recording scenarios, from close-miking instruments to overhead drum miking or vocal recording. Its sturdy construction is intended to prevent accidental tipping or movement, which could compromise audio quality or damage expensive equipment.

Usage Features:

The MC-125 boom stand is designed for ease of use and maximum adjustability, catering to the dynamic needs of a professional studio.

  • Caster System for Mobility: The stand is equipped with smooth-rolling casters, allowing for effortless repositioning within the studio. These casters feature a locking mechanism, ensuring the stand remains firmly in place once the desired location is achieved. This mobility is particularly useful in busy studio environments where quick setup changes are frequent.

  • Height Adjustment: The upright shaft of the stand features a clutch mechanism for quick and secure height adjustments. Users can loosen the clutch by turning it counterclockwise, raise or lower the stand to the desired height, and then tighten the clutch clockwise to lock it in position. This intuitive design allows for precise vertical placement of the microphone, accommodating different sound sources and recording techniques.

  • Boom Length Adjustment: The boom arm's length can be easily adjusted to extend or retract the microphone's reach. Similar to the height adjustment, a clutch mechanism on the boom allows users to loosen, adjust the length, and then tighten to secure the boom in place. This feature is essential for positioning microphones at varying distances from instruments or vocalists, providing flexibility for different recording setups.

  • Three-Way Boom Positioning: The boom arm offers comprehensive three-way adjustment capabilities: front-to-back, up-and-down, and rotational movement. A single control knob allows users to loosen the boom, make all necessary adjustments simultaneously, and then tighten it snugly to lock the microphone in the desired position. This multi-axis control provides unparalleled flexibility for precise microphone angling and placement, crucial for capturing specific sonic characteristics.

  • Counterweight System for Balance: To ensure optimal stability and balance, especially when the boom arm is extended or holding heavier microphones, the MC-125 includes a repositionable counterweight. This counterweight can be easily adjusted along the boom portion of the stand by unscrewing its two halves, sliding it to the desired position, and then tightening it. This feature prevents the stand from tipping and maintains stability, even in challenging microphone placements.

  • Boom Extension for Added Reach: The stand incorporates a boom extension that can be screwed onto the main boom portion. This extension provides additional reach, allowing for even more versatile microphone positioning. It can be set vertically or hung straight down, depending on the specific recording requirements. This added flexibility is beneficial for overhead miking or reaching into tight spaces.

  • Cable Management Clips: To maintain a clean and organized studio environment and prevent cable tangles, the MC-125 is equipped with easy-to-use cable management clips. These clips are strategically located along the boom and the upright portion of the stand. Users can simply press their microphone cable into the clips to secure it, ensuring a tidy setup and minimizing the risk of accidental dislodgment or damage to cables. To remove the cable, a gentle pull is all that's needed.

Maintenance Features:

The Ultimate Support MC-125 is designed with durability in mind, but like all professional equipment, it benefits from proper care and attention.

  • Robust Construction: The stand is built with high-quality materials to withstand the rigors of studio use. Its sturdy components are intended to provide long-term reliability and performance.

  • Warranty Information: Ultimate Support provides a Five-Year Limited Warranty on the MC-125, covering manufacturing defects. This warranty underscores the manufacturer's confidence in the product's quality and provides peace of mind for users. In the event of a defect within the warranty period, Ultimate Support will repair or replace the product at their option, free of charge, provided proof of purchase is submitted.

  • Customer Support: For any questions regarding warranty or service, Ultimate Support offers dedicated customer support via phone. This ensures that users can easily access assistance for troubleshooting or maintenance inquiries.

  • Online Product Registration: Users are encouraged to register their product warranty online through the Ultimate Support website. This process is quick and convenient and is required for warranty fulfillment. Registering the product helps streamline any future warranty claims and ensures that users receive timely support.

  • Clear Assembly Instructions: The manual provides detailed, step-by-step assembly instructions, including visual aids, to ensure correct setup. Proper assembly is a crucial aspect of maintenance, as it prevents undue stress on components and ensures the stand operates as intended.

  • User Instructions for Optimal Operation: Comprehensive user instructions guide individuals on how to properly adjust and operate each feature of the stand. Following these instructions helps prevent misuse, which could lead to damage or reduced performance, thereby extending the product's lifespan.

The MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand is a comprehensive solution for microphone positioning, combining robust construction with intuitive adjustments and thoughtful features to meet the demands of professional audio production. Its design emphasizes both functionality and user convenience, making it a valuable asset in any recording studio.
