STARTER AND GLOW PLUG
If
the starter system malfunctions,
do
the following checks
to
locate
the
cause
(1) Test the starter
at
no-load
I
(2)
Motor
test
I
(3) Magnet switch check
(4) Test
for
breakage and short-circuit
of
glow
plug
No Load Testing
of
Starter
1.
Connect the ammeter's positive prove to the battery position terminal and the negative probe
to the starter's B
terminal.
2.
Connect the battery negative terminal to the starter
body.
3.
Connect the voltmeter's positive prove to the starter's B terminal and the negative probe to the
starter
body.
4.
Set a tachometer.
5.
Connect the starter's B terminal to the magnet switch's S terminal.
6.
Check to see that the magnet switch actuation results
in
the specified speed, current and
voltage.
NOTE
FOR
CHECKING: Use a fully charged battery. Use
an
ammeter and lead of more than 200A
capacity because strong current flows when the starter runs.

Speed More than 5000 rpm
