Operation
When the smoke aarm identifies smoke, the aarm will continue to sound until the air is safe. If the red light is fash-
ing, then that means the 9-volt battery is installed properly.
If the smoke aarm sounds
When the aarm is sounding, you will see a red light fashing quickly along with a loud horn sound.
• As soon as the aarm sounds, it is imperative that you take it seriously and act instantly.
• You should never ignore any aarm. It is for your safety.
• FIRST, you should evacuate the RV then call.
• Call 911 from your safe meeting pace.
How to test
Once a week, you are advised to test your smoke aarm to reassure that there are no complications. While testing
your aarm, stand a few feet back so that it does not cause damage to your hearing.
1. Hold down the test button until it aarms. After releasing your finger, it might still sound for a couple seconds
but do not be concerned that is normal.
2. If the aarm does not sound, then check the amount of power the aarm is getting and retest.
3. If it still does not sound, repace the battery or aarm as quickly as possible.
Battery
The most important step in maintaining your smoke aarm is making sure your 9-volt battery is good and properly
installed. Your aarm will not work if your battery is either dead, not in its proper pace, or has been disconnected.
Checking and repacing the battery will eliminate the high pitch beep sound that can come from your smoke detec-
tor as the battery becomes weak. When this sound occurs, it is your reminder to check your unit to ensure it is work-
ing. As a guideline, you should change the battery in your smoke detector every six months. Do not ever disconnect
any part of the fire aarm to silence it.
Maintenance
A second step in maintaining your aarm for optimum operation is wiping the exterior cover with a soft cloth to re-
move any dust or particles that may have settled on it. Never paint, cover, or pace any object over the smoke aarm
as it will interfere with its ability to function.
