Reverse gear: With the vehicle sta tionary,
lift the ring under the gear-lever knob
3 secon ds afte r de pressing th e clutch, a nd
then engage the gear.
If the gear does not engage, p ut the lever
into neutral, release the clutch pedal and
depress again; then repeat gear selection.

To move the selector lever from N to R

Only start in N with foot brake a pplied.

z Engine oil level a nd fluid levels in engine
compartment 3 163 to 3 169,
z All windows, mirrors, exterior lighting
and number plates are free from dirt,
snow and ice a nd operational,
z Seats, seat belts and mirrors are
correctly a djusted 3 36 , 3 46, 3 32 ,
z Check brake func tion at low speed ,
particula rly if the b ra kes are wet.
