The Vax Mach Air Series is a powerful and lightweight upright vacuum cleaner designed for household use, suitable for both carpets and hard floors. It is available in several models, including UCA1GEV1, UCA2GEV1, and UCA3GEV1.

Function Description:

The Vax Mach Air is engineered for effective and efficient vacuuming of carpets and hard floors. It features a rotating brushbar for deep cleaning and an air vent for adjusting suction power based on the surface type. The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a thermal cut-out to prevent overheating and includes various accessories for versatile cleaning tasks.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The handle inserts into the main body, and tools can be placed onto the on-board storage area.
  • Power On/Off: Plug in the machine and press the ON/OFF button to switch it on.
  • Cord Release: A quick-release cord hook allows for easy power cord deployment.
  • Reclining: The brushbar will only spin when the machine is reclined.
  • Brushbar Control: The brushbar can be switched ON for carpets and OFF for hard floors. It is important to switch the brushbar OFF when cleaning hard floors to prevent damage.
  • Suction Control (Air Vent):
    • Slide the vent cover open to decrease suction for high-piled carpets.
    • Close the vent cover to increase suction for maximum cleaning on hard floors. For most efficient results, the air vent should be closed.

    • All tools can be attached to the extension tube or directly to the hose.
    • When using accessories, the machine should be in an upright position.
  • Extension Tube: The extension tube can be removed from the main unit, and the hose or accessories can be attached to it for extended reach.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always switch off and unplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting/disconnecting attachments, removing/emptying the dirt container, or performing maintenance.
    • Use only indoors on dry surfaces and in well-lit areas.
    • Keep fingers, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts and openings.
    • Do not use if dropped, damaged, or left outdoors.
    • Do not run over the power cord or use if the cord/plug is damaged.
    • Do not handle the plug or use with wet hands.
    • Do not pull or carry by the power cord, use it as a handle, pull around corners, or close a door over it.
    • Do not unplug by pulling on the power cord.
    • Do not vacuum hard or sharp objects (glass, nails, screws, coins).
    • Do not vacuum flammable/combustible materials (lighter fluid, petrol, kerosene), hot coals, cigarette butts, matches, or harmful fluids (chlorine, bleach, ammonia drain cleaner).
    • Do not attempt to remove blockages with sharp objects.
    • Ensure correct voltage as listed on the ratings label.
    • Use only Vax recommended tools.
    • Children aged 8 and above can use with supervision and understanding of hazards. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be done by children without supervision.
    • Keep all openings clear of debris to maintain airflow/suction.
    • Protect the power cable from heated surfaces and open flames.
    • Use only CE approved 13amp extension cords; non-approved cords may overheat. Arrange extension cords carefully to avoid trip hazards.

Maintenance Features:

  • Emptying the Dirt Container:
    • Press the release button and pull to remove the dirt container.
    • Hold over a bin and press the release button to empty dirt.
  • Cleaning the HEPA Pre-Motor Filter:
    • Turn the dirt container lid anti-clockwise and lift to remove.
    • Grasp the tab on the filter and pull to remove.
    • Tap the filter over a bin to release dirt.
    • Wash the filter under running water (40°C max).
    • Allow to fully dry for at least 24 hours before putting back into the vacuum cleaner.
    • Pre-motor filters require cleaning at least every 3 months.
  • Cleaning the Shroud:
    • Turn the dirt container lid anti-clockwise and lift to remove.
    • Lift to remove the separator from the dirt container.
    • Tap over a bin to remove dirt and debris.
    • Brush dirt from the shroud.
  • HEPA Post-Motor Filter Maintenance:
    • The exhaust filter is designed for long life with no maintenance.
    • Check periodically and replace when heavily discoloured.
    • Do not wash, scrub, or brush the filter as this will damage the delicate filter media.
    • Press the button on the post-motor filter cover and remove.
    • Remove the post-motor filter from the filter cover.
    • Check for discolouration.
  • Removing Debris from the Brushbar:
    • Switch off and unplug the vacuum cleaner.
    • Use scissors to cut any hair or debris free from around the brushbar.
  • Changing the Brushbar:
    • Unplug and switch off the vacuum cleaner.
    • Use a crosshead screwdriver to remove the 3 screws from the belt cover on the side of the floorhead.
    • Pull to remove the belt cover.
    • Pull to remove the brushbar location plate and remove the belt.
    • Lift and separate the brushbar side cover.
    • Pull the brushbar through the side cover to remove.
  • Changing the Belt:
    • Unplug and switch off the vacuum cleaner.
    • Clean any debris from the spindle.
    • Place the new belt onto the spindle and align the teeth on the belt with the teeth on the cog.
    • Slide the belt into place.
  • Removing Blockages from the TurboTool:
    • Use a crosshead screwdriver to remove the 2 screws (A) to clean the TurboTool.
    • Remove the cover (B).
    • Clean out any debris or hair from the brushbar and turbine fan.
    • Replace the cover and tighten the screws.
    • Do not add lubricant to the brushbar as bearings contain sufficient lubrication for their lifetime.
  • Storage: Store the vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area. Ensure filters are thoroughly dry if cleaned before storing.
  • Troubleshooting: If the vacuum cleaner overheats, the thermal cut-out will activate. Switch off, unplug, remove/empty dirt container, check for blockages, and allow to cool for approximately 1 hour. If filters were cleaned, wait 24 hours for them to fully dry.
