Supported NDMP Configurations
The following sections describe specific supported NDMP configurations and capabilities, providing unparalleled flexibility in
defining and implementing a NAS backup strategy.
NDMP-to-NDMP (“NDMP client”) Backups
NetBackup supports backups between NDMP hosts. Sometimes it is not cost effective to directly attach a tape drive or library
to each NDMP host, especially in environments where there are many smaller NAS servers. In these situations, an “NDMP
host” (Netapp, etc) backs up directly to another NDMP host with a locally attached tape device (see Figure 10).
