Why won't the spark ignitor light the pilot on my Vermont Castings 36CFDVNV?
    • K
      Keith MitchellAug 16, 2025
If the spark ignitor on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace won't light the pilot after repeatedly triggering the piezo, there are several potential causes. A wire might be disconnected; open the door and check to ensure the wire is connected to the ignitor. The ignitor itself could be defective; check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, replace the pilot assembly. There might be no gas or low gas pressure; check the remote/manual shut-off valve. Low pressure can result from bent or restricted lines, or low pressure line pressure, so consult with a plumber or gas supplier. Finally, if you're using Propane/LPG, the tank might be empty; check and refill the tank if necessary.

What to do if my Vermont Castings 36CFDVNV pilot won't stay lit?
    • R
      Renee AllenAug 20, 2025
If the pilot on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace won't stay lit after carefully following the lighting instructions, it could be due to a defective thermocouple. Ensure the flame impinges on the thermocouple, and clean or adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement. Also, verify that the thermocouple connection at the gas valve is fully inserted and tight. To test the thermocouple, disconnect it from the valve and use a millivolt meter to measure the output. If the reading is less than 15 mV, replace the pilot assembly. If the thermocouple produces more than 15 mV, the valve may be defective and needs replacement.

How to fix frequent pilot outage problem in Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace?
    • A
      Alicia LiAug 25, 2025
Frequent pilot outages in your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace could stem from the pilot flame being either too high or too low. This improper flame height can cause the pilot safety to drop out. To resolve this, clean and adjust the pilot flame to ensure maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple.

Why does my Vermont Castings 36CFDVNV have frequent pilot outage problem?
    • S
      Sharon SaundersSep 8, 2025
Frequent pilot outages in your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace can often be attributed to the pilot flame being improperly adjusted—either too high or too low. This can cause the pilot safety mechanism to shut off. To resolve this, clean and adjust the pilot flame to ensure maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple.

What to do if my Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace burner will not ignite?
    • K
      Katelyn BaileyNov 12, 2025
If the pilot is burning, the valve knob and switch are in the “ON” position, but the burner on your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace won't ignite, there are several potential causes. First, the switch, wall switch, remote control, or wiring might be defective. Check the switch and wiring for proper connections. You can use jumper wires across the switch terminals; if the burner ignites, the switch is defective and needs replacement. Repeat this process for the remote control. Alternatively, the pilot flame may be too small and needs adjustment to be closer to the thermopile. Also, the thermopile itself might be defective or malfunctioning; ensure all wire connections are tight and the thermopile is fully inserted into the pilot assembly. A millivolt meter reading below 325 mV indicates th...

What to do if Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace burner will not ignite?
    • V
      Valerie BennettNov 27, 2025
If your Vermont Castings Indoor Fireplace burner won't ignite even with the pilot burning, valve knob on 'ON,' and the switch also on 'ON,' several factors could be at play. First, check the switch and wiring for secure connections. You can test the switch by placing jumper wires across its terminals; if the burner ignites, the switch is faulty and needs replacement. Repeat this process for the remote control. If the burner ignites when a jumper wire is placed across the wires at the gas valves (terminals marked TH and TP/TH), the wires are likely faulty or have poor connections and should be replaced. Also, the pilot flame might be too small and not close enough to the thermopile, so adjust the pilot flame. A defective or malfunctioning thermopile can also be the reason. Check the thermop...
