Setting the Volume
If no signals are heard and the
BUSYrrX
indicator is not glowing
green (so you can adjust the volume on a signal), press and hold the
MON
button for two seconds until a beep is heard and the yellow
indicator above the button blinks. Then adjust the volume control
for a comfortable level on a signal or background noise, Press
MON
again momentarily so the yellow indicator stops blinking. See the
box on the previous page for more information on controlling the
squelch system.
Transmitting
To transmit, wait until the
BUSYrrX
indicator is off (the channel
is not in use), and press the
PTT (Push-To-Talk) switch on the side
of the microphone (the
BUSYITX
lamp glows red). While holding
the
PTT
switch, speak across the face of the microphone in a clear,
normal voice, and then release the PTT switch to receive. The box
below describes some other features that may be programmed to
affect your transmissions.
Remaining instructions apply to 12-channel versions only.
