Overview

This document describes the Vicks Mini Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier, model VUL525E. It is an ultrasonic humidifier designed to provide cool mist, recommended by Vicks.

Function Description:

The Vicks Mini Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier is designed to add moisture to the air, helping to alleviate symptoms associated with dry air. It operates using ultrasonic technology to produce a fine, cool mist. The device is intended for indoor use in rooms up to 15 square meters. It features a 180° mist nozzle for directing the mist flow and a VapoPad heater for use with Vicks VapoPads (one menthol VapoPad is included). The VapoPads contain essential oils like eucalyptus oil, menthol, glycol, and cedar leaf oil, which can be diffused into the air to provide a soothing aroma. The humidifier has a 1.8-liter tank capacity, providing up to 24 hours of operation on the minimum setting.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: VUL525E
  • Power: 220-240V~50-60Hz, 25W
  • Tank Capacity: 1.8 liters
  • Duration: Up to 24 hours (on minimum setting with a full tank)
  • Ideal for Rooms: Up to 15 square meters
  • Mist Nozzle: 180°
  • VapoPad Heater: Yes (one menthol VapoPad included)
  • Safety Certifications: CE mark, manufactured in conformity with Electromagnetic Directive 2014/30/EU, Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, and Energy Using Products Directive 2009/125/EC.

Usage Features:

  1. First Time Use: Before first use, remove all packing material and disinfect the humidifier. Place the unit on a firm, level, water-resistant surface, at least 15 cm from walls for proper airflow.
  2. Filling: The water tank is removed by pulling it straight up using the carrying handle. The tank cap is unlocked by turning it counter-clockwise. The tank should be filled with clean, cool tap water. Hot or warm water should not be used as it can cause damage and void the warranty. The tank cap is then replaced by turning it clockwise, and the tank is positioned back on the base.
  3. Power and Mist Control: The humidifier is plugged into an outlet with the power switch in the OFF position. The power switch and intensity control knob are then turned clockwise to the ON position, illuminating the pilot light. Mist output is adjusted by turning the knob. For high output, the dial is turned to the end.
  4. Humidity Monitoring: A comfortable humidity level is typically between 40-60%. A hygrometer (such as the Vicks V70 2-in-1 Hygrometer & Thermometer) can be used to monitor humidity levels.
  5. Automatic Shut-off: The unit automatically shuts off when it runs out of water or when the water level in the base gets too low, turning off the fan and nebulizer.
  6. VapoPad Heater Use: The VapoPad door, located below the power switch, is opened by pushing a button. A VapoPad is inserted into the slot with the angled end facing the product. Users are cautioned not to touch the VapoPad directly and to wash hands thoroughly if contact occurs, as essential oils can be irritating to the skin. The door is then closed, and the unit is plugged in and turned on. The VapoPad heater activates whenever the humidifier is on, and this area may become warm. Essential oils or VapoPads should NEVER be added directly into the water tank, as this can degrade the material. VapoPads are not recommended for babies under 36 months, for more than 16 hours in a 24-hour period, or more than 2 pads in a 24-hour period.

Maintenance Features:

  1. Regular Cleaning Reminder: The humidifier has a cleaning indicator and sound that activate every 3 days or upon each power-on to remind the user to clean the water tank. Pressing the cleaning button acknowledges the cleaning and resets the reminder. If not acknowledged, the light and sound will persist.
  2. Every 3 Days Cleaning (Daily Maintenance):
    • Unplug the appliance.
    • Remove the water tank from the base and empty all water from the reservoir.
    • Clean the tank with fresh tap water or cleaning agents, removing any scale, deposits, or film from the sides and interior surfaces.
    • Dry all surfaces.
    • Do not leave water in the reservoir when not in use to prevent mineral buildup and bacteria growth.
  3. Weekly Scale Removal:
    • Unplug the appliance.
    • Remove the water tank and empty all water. Remove the tank cap and drain any remaining water.
    • Wipe the tank clean with a soft, damp cloth and rinse with lukewarm water.
    • Add 0.5 liters of undiluted distilled white vinegar to the water tank, replace the cap, and swish the solution around. Place the tank on the base to allow the vinegar solution to drain into the water reservoir, loosening mineral buildup on the nebulizer, float, and bottom of the tank.
    • Soak for 15-20 minutes.
    • After soaking, empty the solution into a sink.
    • Wipe the nebulizer and float with a soft cloth to remove loosened mineral deposits.
    • Rinse the water reservoir and water tank until the vinegar smell is gone. Ensure water does not enter the fan opening or power switch.
    • Do not immerse the base in water. Gently wipe the reservoir with a soft, clean, wet cloth.
    • Do not use detergent, abrasive cleansers, or brushes on water-containing parts.
  4. Weekly Disinfecting:
    • Unplug the appliance.
    • Remove the water tank and empty all water. Remove the tank cap and drain any remaining water.
    • If accessories are installed, remove and set them aside (do not clean accessories).
    • Thoroughly clean the humidifier with a solution of bleach and water (5ml bleach in 1.8 liters of water). Partially fill the water tank with this solution.
    • Let stand for 20 minutes, shaking vigorously every few minutes. Drain and rinse with clean water until the bleach smell is gone.
    • Wipe the reservoir with a soft cloth dampened in the solution and rinse the area thoroughly.
    • If mineral deposits are present around the nebulizer, clean the surface with a soft, clean cloth and a small amount of undiluted white vinegar. For stubborn deposits, a 50% white vinegar and 50% water solution can be used to fill the base and cover the nebulizer. Rinse and wipe clean.
    • Do not touch the nebulizer or water sensor with bare fingers to avoid reducing mist output. Do not immerse the base in water.
  5. Storage: Follow cleaning instructions and dry the product thoroughly before storage. Empty and clean the humidifier before next use.
