4.2. Thorough cleaning
Thorough cleaning is recommended to be carried out at least once in a 12-month period and/or whenever
the situation might warrant it (spillages / leaks etc.)
1. Empty the shelves. Transfer all food products to another cold space until the cabinet has been
cleaned and it has reached its operating temperature again.
2. Switch the cabinet off, disconnect from the mains and let the cabinet reach ambient temperature.
3. Unplug and remove the LED light strips from underneath the shelves.
4. Lift off and remove all shelves. Remove LED light / ticket strip holders from the shelves as well as
the front risers (if any). Remove ticket strips from the LED light / ticket strip holders.
5. Remove the LED light cables from shelf supports, then lift off and remove the shelf supports.
6. Push the LED light cables through the cable openings on the back plates.
7. Lift off and remove the back plates.
MD5: lift the back plates up and outwards
MD7: open the back plate lock (see left image below), then lift up and outwards
8. Lift off and remove the bottom hatches and suction grid.
9. Remove and carefully clean the honeycomb strip with a vacuum cleaner on both sides.
Note!
Never clean the honeycomb strip with water!
Water may clog honeycomb cells, providing a suitable environment for bacteria to grow in.
10. Clean all removed parts (shelves, shelf supports, ticket strips, LED light / ticket strip holders, bottom
hatches, LED lights, acrylic front risers, suction grid) and wipe them dry. When cleaning ticket strips,
make sure you clean the inside of them as well; if left uncleaned, any organic matter inside the ticket
strip will provide a suitable environment for bacteria to grow in.
11. MD7 only: Open the evaporator access hatch (see right image below). Clean the evaporator by
rinsing it thoroughly with clean water.
12. Wipe all interior surfaces of the cabinet and remove any matter that may be stuck in the drain sieve.
13. Drain and clean the water seal underneath the cabinet.
Note!
Place a suitable vessel underneath the water seal before opening the end cap!
14. Lead the LED light cables through the cable openings on the back plates. Replace the back plates.
15. Replace all other removed parts (bottom hatches, shelf supports, shelves, ticket strips).
16. Connect the LED lights to the ticket strip / LED light holders and plug the light cables in.
Re-attach the light cables to the shelf supports.
17. Wipe all exterior surfaces of the cabinet.
18. Connect the cabinet back to the mains and switch it on.
19. Wait until the cabinet has reached its operating temperature, and then replace all food products on
the shelves.
MD7: lock on the back plate
