Condenser Fan
Inspect fan to ensure that it is 1.
mechanically sound. Rotate blades
while feeling for resistance to
movement ........................................
Check for resistance between fan 2.
terminals ..........................................
Check for continuity between each 3.
terminal and fan chassis ..................
Check current draw4. ..........................
Ensure that fan as free of any debris, dirt, or •
lint that might hinder rotation.
Replace fan if dead short is found across fan •
terminals.
Replace fan if continuity is found between •
terminal and fan chassis.
Typical current draw is 0.15 amps for fan •
without increased mechanical resistance. If
observed current is at or above 0.19 amps,
replace fan.
Evaporator Fan
Check for voltage at fan terminals1. ...
Check for resistance between fan 2.
terminals ..........................................
Check for continuity between each 3.
terminal and fan chassis ..................
12VDC•
Replace fan if dead short is found across fan •
terminals.
Replace fan if continuity is found between •
terminal and fan chassis.
Display Thermistor
Disconnect and remove thermistor 1.
from unit.
Use a known reference temperature 2.
point (i.e. an ice bath).
Measure resistance across wire 3.
leads.
Compare measurement with values 4.
in Resistance versus Temperature
Chart (see Thermistors) ................... If observed resistance is greater than 4% out •
of spec, replace thermistor.

To avoid risk of electrical shock, personal injury, or death, disconnect electrical power source to unit, unless test
procedures require power to be connected. Discharge capacitor through a resistor before attempting to service.
Ensure all ground wires are connected before certifying unit as repaired and/or operational.
