Why is my Vision 16 Series Engraver engraving uneven without a nosecone?
    • S
      Samuel SalazarSep 4, 2025
If you are not using a nosecone and you have uneven engraving with the Vision Engraver, switch to a nose-riding method. Consider using a different method of holding the material, as double-sided tape may affect surface flatness. If possible, parcel the job to have more direct control over the depth of each specific area, which can be effective for uneven material or a large engraving bed.

Why is my baseline off on Vision 16 Series?
    • E
      Edward AndersonSep 18, 2025
If your baseline is off with the Vision Engraver, you may not be at the mechanical or software home. The table or carriage might have been bumped during setup, or the previous job was cut short and the system did not return to its mechanical home or limit switches. Move the table, bridge, or carriage physically to home or send it home via the software. Also, check your software layout for keystroke errors.

What to do if I have voids while burnishing aluminum with Vision Engraver?
    • V
      Veronica WattsSep 16, 2025
If you're burnishing aluminum and notice voids or non-engraved areas with the Vision Engraver, try re-engraving the same plate again, as some anodized aluminum plates have very hard surfaces requiring two passes. Consider switching to a diamond burnisher, as carbide tools may have difficulty with tough surfaces. Increase the pressure of the z-axis or burnishing adapter. If the issue persists, try other materials, as some materials from certain vendors are exceptionally tough.

How to fix 'fuzz' or 'fur' in Vision 16 Series cuts?
    • K
      Kathleen UnderwoodSep 14, 2025
If you're getting 'fuzz', 'fur' or lines in the bottom of your Vision Engraver cut showing each cutter path, try changing the cutter size slightly, as this problem is sometimes caused by dull cutters, the wrong cutter, or not enough overlap for each cut. You can also try taking a second pass cut at .001-.002 deeper to clean up the roughness. Resharpen the cutter, ensuring the spindle is square in the mount or block. Also, try turning the spindle speed up.

What to do if engraving is shallow across the top when using Vision 16 Series with a nosecone?
    • D
      Dustin WalkerSep 12, 2025
If you are using a nosecone, but your Vision Engraver engraving is 'shallow' across the top or left margin of your plate, your nosecone may be riding on the edge guides. Lower the edge guides so that they are even with or below the level of your material surface. Also, check to see if your material is on top of the edge guides.

What to do if 'shadowing' occurs while engraving with Vision 16 Series?
    • G
      gibsondavidSep 12, 2025
If you notice 'shadowing' while engraving certain materials with the Vision Engraver, try leaving the protective film on the material during engraving. Alternatively, use a plastic nosecone instead of a standard metal one. Inspect the nosecone for damage, burrs, or roughness; polish it with an Emory cloth if needed. Also, reduce the spring pressure, as excessive pressure can leave rub marks on plastic.

What to do if Vision 16 Series has no movement in one axis?
    • S
      Steven PerrySep 9, 2025
If your Vision Engraver system has no movement in any one axis, try to jog the problem axis using the X/Y/Z jog keys on the control unit. If OK, retry the job. Check the table cable for a solid connection. If problems persist, call a service technician for further instructions.

Why is the type ragged on my Vision 16 Series?
    • R
      Richard VasquezSep 7, 2025
If you have ragged type when using the Vision Engraver, and the quality of the cut is ragged or exhibits steps, you may have play in the cutter, possibly in the gap between the cutter and the spindle shaft. The shaft may be worn, or the spindle bearings may need replacement. The spindle could be loose in the housing or block, or the carriage could be loose with excessive play; check the z-axis bearings or slide. Lubricate lead screws with recommended lubricant.

Why is the spindle hot on my Vision 16 Series?
    • T
      Troy LarsenSep 5, 2025
If the spindle of your Vision Engraver is hot, ensure that the nose cone area is free of debris and check the vacuum system (if used) for clogging. Inspect the spindle for other obstructions that may prevent proper rotation. The bearings may need to be replaced.

Why I’m getting “tails” or “swirls” in the corners of my Vision 16 Series engraving?
    • V
      Victoria GentryAug 21, 2025
If you're getting 'tails' or 'swirls' in the corners of your engraving with the Vision Engraver, it might be due to your cutter speed being too fast relative to your x-y speed. Try slowing down your spindle speed or increasing your table speed. Also, check if your cutter is worn or damaged, and consider turning down the dwell speed.
