system, whether for maintenance
or decommissioning, the
recommended good method is to
safely remove all refrigerants.
When transferring refrigerant to
cylinders, care must be taken that
only suitable refrigerant recovery
cylinders are used. Ensure that
sufficient cylinders are available
to hold the total system fill. All
cylinders that are to be used are
intended for the recovered
coolant and labeled for that
coolant (i.e., special cylinders for
recovering coolant). The cylinders
must be complete and in good
condition with a pressure relief
valve and associated shut-off
valves. Empty recovery cylinders
are evacuated and, if possible,
cooled before recovery takes
place.
The recovery equipment must be
in good condition with instructions
regarding the equipment available
and must be suitable for the
recovery of flammable coolants.
In addition, calibrated scales must
be available that are in good
condition. The hoses must be
complete with leak-free
decoupling fittings and must be in
good condition. Before using the
recuperation machine, check that
it is in good condition, well
maintained and that all associated
electrical parts have been sealed
to prevent ignition in the event that
refrigerant is released. Consult
the manufacturer if in doubt.
The recovered coolant is returned
to the coolant supplier in the
correct recovery cylinder and the
relevant waste transport bill is
arranged. Do not mix refrigerants
in recovery units and certainly not
in cylinders. If compressors or
compressor oils are to be
removed, you must ensure that
they have been evacuated to an
acceptable level to ensure that no
flammable coolant remains in the
lubricant. The evacuation process
must be carried out before the
compressor is returned to the
suppliers. Electric heating may
only be used on the compressor
housing to speed up this process.
When oil is drained from the
system, this must be done in a
safe manner.
Note about fluorinated gases
- Fluorinated greenhouse gases
are stored in hermetically
sealed equipment. For specific
information on the type,
amount and CO2 equivalent in
tonnes of the fluorinated
greenhouse gas (with some
models), it is best to consult
the relevant label on the
device itself.
- Installation, service, mainte-
nance and repair of this device
must be carried out by a
certified technician.
- The removal and recycling of
the product must be carried
out by a certified technician.
