Maintenance: Lubricating system

Oil filter. Change
WARNING! Hot oil and hot surfaces can cause
burns.
IMPORTANT! Place a receptacle under the fil-
ters when dismantling to avoid oil spill.
NOTE! Leave the old filter to a destruction plant.
Standard oil filters
1. Drain off the oil as directed in “Engine oil. Change”
on the previous page.
2. Unscrew the oil filters (both filters must be
changed) using special tools.
3. Moisten the rubber gaskets on the new filters with
oil and check their contact surfaces on the
bracket.
4. Screw on the new filters by hand until the gasket
makes contact with the sealing surface. Then
tighten the filters a further 3/4 turn.
5. Fill oil as directing in “Engine oil. Change” on the
previous page.
Switchable oil filters
Switchable oil filters can be changed while running.
WARNING! Working on or approaching a run-
ning engine is a safety hazard. Beware of rotat-
ing parts and hot surfaces.
1. Remove the locking pin (1).
2. Turn the cock anticlockwise a quarter of a turn
and carry out steps 3–5 on the right-hand filter.
3. Unscrew the oil filter with special tools.
4. Moisten the rubber gaskets on the new filter with
oil and check its contact surface on the bracket.
5. Screw on the new filter by hand until the gasket
makes contact with the sealing surface. Then
tighten the filter a further 3/4 turn.
6. Turn the cock clockwise a half of a turn and carry
out steps 3-5 on the left-hand filter.
7. Put the cock in its horizontal position. Fit the
locking pin.
8. Fill oil, start the engine and check for leaks.
Check the oil level when the engine has been
stopped.
