Group 21 Reconditioning engine
Removing
parts

Remove:
- valve cover and gaskets
-
timing gear covers (front + rear).

Turn engine until eyl. 1 is at TOC - injeetion
Always use the vibration damper center balt to turn
the engine.
Use a
27 mm socket.
80th cylinder 1 cams should point diagonally upwards
and mark on pump gear should be opposite line on
mounting bracket.
A6
Remove vibration damper
Use 5187 to prevent pulley from rotating, and wrench
5188 to unscrew bo lt.
It
may be necessary toturn engine slighUy sothatS187
rests on fan bearing.
Remove 4
Allen screws (6 mm).
Pull off vibration damper.
Notel Crankshaft gear may sometimes stick to vibra-
tion damper.
