280 Fifth Wheel Instructions
Operating the Fifth Wheel Slider
WARNING
The trailer must be stopped and the
trailer brakes locked, or damage to the
tractor and/or trailer may result from un-
controlled sliding of the fifth wheel.
Stop the tractor and trailer in a straight line
on level ground.
Lock the trailer brakes by pulling out the
Trailer Supply knob.
Release the slide locking plungers by mov-
ing the switch to the “UNLOCK” position
(press down the latch and push in the bot-
tom part of the switch).

Check to see that both of the slide plungers
have released. If the plungers do not come
out, lower the landing gear to relieve the
pressure on the plungers. Lowering the
landing gear will also allow the fifth wheel
to slide easier.
