Overview

The Vornado PIVOTC is a personal air circulator designed to provide targeted airflow in indoor living spaces. This device is built with a focus on user convenience, safety, and efficient air circulation, backed by a 3-year satisfaction guarantee.

Function Description:

The PIVOTC personal circulator is engineered to move a substantial amount of air, creating a comfortable environment by circulating air throughout a room. Unlike traditional fans that merely blow air, Vornado circulators are designed to create a whole-room circulation effect, ensuring even temperature distribution. The PIVOTC model is specifically designed for personal use, offering directable airflow to suit individual comfort needs. Its robust clip mechanism allows it to be securely attached to various surfaces, making it versatile for different settings such as desks, shelves, or other horizontal surfaces up to 1.5 inches thick. The device is intended for use in the United States and Canada and is not suitable for commercial or industrial applications.

Usage Features:

The PIVOTC offers several features that enhance its usability and performance:

  • Pivoting Head: The head of the circulator can be pivoted, allowing users to direct the airflow precisely where it is desired. This feature is crucial for personal comfort, enabling the user to customize the air direction.
  • Swiveling Body: Complementing the pivoting head, the circulator's body swivels 360 degrees. This comprehensive range of motion ensures that the airflow can be directed in any desired direction, maximizing its effectiveness as a personal circulator.
  • Three Speeds: The device includes a control for three different speed settings: High (III), Medium (II), and Low (I). This allows users to select the optimal airflow intensity for their comfort level, whether they need a gentle breeze or more powerful circulation. The control also includes an off (0) setting.
  • Robust Clip: A key feature of the PIVOTC is its robust clip, designed to attach securely to surfaces up to 1.5 inches thick. The clip mechanism is tightened or loosened by rotating a knob at its base, ensuring a firm grip. It's important to choose a solid horizontal surface for attachment and avoid delicate surfaces that could be marked.
  • Finger Friendly Design: The circulator features a design that resists curious fingers, enhancing safety, especially in environments where children might be present.
  • Air Inlets: Equipped with signature air inlets and a powerful motor, the PIVOTC is designed to move more air efficiently, contributing to its effective circulation capabilities.
  • Integrated Cord Wrap: For convenience and neatness, the circulator includes an integrated cord wrap. This feature helps with cord management, keeping the power cord tidy and out of the way, reducing the risk of tripping or entanglement.
  • Silicon Pads: Non-marking silicon pads are incorporated into the design, providing additional stability when the circulator is clipped to a surface. These pads also help protect surfaces from scratches or marks.
  • Easy Setup: To get started, users simply choose a suitable horizontal surface, loosen the clip knob, secure the product, and retighten the knob. The power cord should then be routed through the cord clip on the back of the product. Care should be taken to ensure the product is not hung in a way that impedes fan operation or damages the cord, and the cord should be safely routed to prevent tripping.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the performance and longevity of the PIVOTC circulator, especially given the substantial amount of air it moves.

  • Simple Cleaning Process: The cleaning process is straightforward and does not require opening the unit, as there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
    1. Power Off and Unplug: Before any cleaning, the unit must be powered off and unplugged from the electrical outlet to ensure safety.
    2. Dusting/Wiping: The circulator can be dusted or wiped with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt and grime.
    3. Vacuuming Accumulated Dust: For accumulated dust, particularly within the air inlets and on the fan blades, a brush attachment from a household vacuum cleaner can be used to effectively remove it.
  • Permanently Lubricated Motor: The motor of the PIVOTC is permanently lubricated, meaning it does not require any oiling by the user. This simplifies maintenance and ensures consistent operation without the need for periodic lubrication.
  • Fuse Replacement (User Servicing Instructions): In the event of an overload or short-circuit, the product is equipped with an overload protection fuse. Users can replace the fuse by following specific instructions:
    1. Turn off the appliance and unplug it.
    2. Grasp the plug (not the cord) to disconnect from the outlet.
    3. Replace the fuse only with a 2.5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse approved by Vornado Consumer Service.
    4. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to slide open the fuse cover on the plug.
    5. Gently lift each end of the old fuse with the screwdriver to remove it.
    6. Install the replacement fuse by gently pushing each metal end into the receptacle one at a time, avoiding pushing on the center of the fuse.
    7. Slide the fuse cover closed, ensuring it fits completely.
    8. Plug the appliance back into the outlet and turn it on. If the replacement fuse blows, it indicates a potential short-circuit, and the product should be discarded or returned to an authorized service facility.
  • Storage Recommendations: For off-season storage or extended periods of non-use, it is recommended to clean the circulator first. Then, unplug the power cord and bundle it loosely. The unit can be covered or placed back in its retail carton to prevent dust accumulation. Store the circulator in a cool and dry location to ensure its long life.

The PIVOTC is designed for ease of use and minimal maintenance, providing reliable personal air circulation with safety and convenience in mind.
