The bias binding foot
Replace the standard presser foot with the
bias binding foot. Use the 4-thread seam. Set
the stitch length to approx. 2.5 to 4. Slightly lift
the brake shoe, slide the band between the
brake shoe and the support and pull the band
until the end of the presser foot.
For textile bands, loosen the adjusting screw
until the band can be pulled through without
resistance. For elastic band
s, tighten the
adjusting screw until the desired level of
stretching is achieved. It should be possible
to pull the elastic band through with moderate
force while the presser foot is lifted.
Sew a short piece of the band to check that it
is being sewn correctly. It may be necessary
for elastic bands
tension of the needle threads.
Place the fabric under the presser foot and
sew on the band. If necessary, adjust the
thread tensions.
When sewing, always guide the band at the
right-hand stop end of the presser foot contact
surface.
Start and end of the seam with rounded-off
pieces
Start sewing as described above. Cut off the
start of the band that is not sewn on and sew
until shortly before the end of the seam. Cut
the band such that the ends touch each other
or overlap slightly
and continue sewing.
Reinforce the seam by sewing over the
already finished seam for about 5 cm.
