4.11 Troubleshooting
Problem / Symptom Reason / Remedy
If engine doesn't start, check
that:
Engine switch is on “Start”.
Fuel valves under fuel tank and on engine are open.
Fuel tank has fuel.
Choke lever is in correct position. Choke should be
closed when starting a cold engine.
All loads are disconnected from generator.
Spark plug is in good condition.
Spark plug cap is tight.
Engine oil level is adequate.
If engine starts but there is no
power at receptacles, check
that:
Circuit breaker is closed.
Connector from generator to control panel is tight.
If engine starts but runs errati-
cally, check that:
Hose routing from the fuel tank to the engine is cor-
rect. For proper operation, the hose must run
through the bushing in the lifting bracket. Refer to
the Parts Book for illustration.
If the GFCI trips when a load
is connected, check that:
The connected equipment may be wired incorrectly
or faulty. Contact equipment supplier.
