Overview

This document is the user manual for a portable air conditioner, model WAP1-08BC, which uses R290 refrigerant. It provides comprehensive information on safety, operation, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The WANAI portable air conditioner is designed for indoor use, offering cooling, dehumidifying, and fan-only operation modes. It is a mobile unit, allowing for flexible placement within a room. The appliance is equipped with a control panel and a remote control for convenient operation. It features a self-evaporative system for condensate water in cooling and dehumidifying modes, but also allows for continuous drainage if needed or if the splash motor is damaged.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: WAP1-08BC
  • Refrigerant: R290 (a flammable refrigerant gas compliant with European directives on the environment).
  • Power Supply: AC110-120V, 60Hz.
  • Fuse Type and Rating: T, 250V AC, 2A or higher.
  • Minimum Room Area (X m²):
    • 5000Btu/h, 7000Btu/h, 8000Btu/h: 4 m²
    • 9000Btu/h, 10000Btu/h, 10500Btu/h: 12 m²
    • 12000Btu/h, 14000, 16000Btu/h, 18000Btu/h: 15 m²
  • Operation Ambient Temperature Range:
    • Maximum cooling: 95/75 DB/WB(°F)
    • Minimum cooling: 64/53 DB/WB(°F)
  • Parts: Control panel, front panel, louver, castor, power cord, drainage outlet, air inlet, air outlet.
  • Accessories: Exhaust hose, window connector, housing adaptor, remote controller, window kit (optional), T slot screw translation (optional), water pipe (optional), batteries (optional).

Usage Features:

  • Control Interface: The unit can be operated via a control panel on the device or a remote control.
  • Operation Modes: Includes Cooling, Dehumidifying, and Fan modes.
  • Temperature Setting: Adjustable room temperature in cooling mode (60°F-88°F).
  • Fan Speed: Selectable wind speed in cooling and fan modes. In dehumidifying mode, the fan motor defaults to a fixed LOW wind speed.
  • Timer Function: Allows users to set a desired ON or OFF time for the air conditioner, with a range of 1-24 hours.
  • Water Full Alert: The unit has an inner water tray with a water level safety switch. When the water level reaches a certain height, a "water full" indicator light illuminates. After 5 minutes, "E2" or "E4" codes may be displayed, and the compressor will stop. Water can then be drained manually.
  • Drainage:
    • Self-evaporative: In COOL or DEHUMIDIFY modes, the unit automatically evaporates condensate water via a splash motor.
    • Continuous Drainage: Can be used if the splash motor is damaged or for prolonged unused periods. A drain hose can be connected to the bottom drain hole.
    • Intermittent Drainage: If the splash motor is damaged, a drain hose can be connected when the water full indicator lights up to drain the water tank.
  • Installation: Requires placement on a flat, empty surface with at least 12 inches of clearance around the air outlet. The exhaust hose and window kit are used to vent hot air outside. The window kit can be installed horizontally or vertically and is adjustable for window width or height.

Maintenance Features:

  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be cleaned every two weeks if clogged with dust/dirt. It can be removed, cleaned with neutral detergent in lukewarm water (104°F), dried in the shade, and then reinstalled.
  • Surface Cleaning: The air conditioner's surface should be cleaned with a neutral detergent and a wet cloth, then wiped dry.
  • Safety Precautions for Cleaning: Always disconnect the unit from the power supply before cleaning. Do not use gasoline or other chemicals, and do not wash the unit directly.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the unit not starting, insufficient cooling, noisy operation, and error codes (E0, E1, E2, E3, E4). Suggested remedies include draining water, resetting temperature, cleaning the air inlet, and replacing sensors.
  • Refrigerant System Maintenance (R290 Specific):
    • Requires specialized training for personnel working on systems with flammable refrigerants.
    • Strict safety checks are necessary to minimize ignition risk, including ensuring no open flames, operating gas appliances, or electric heaters are present.
    • The area must be adequately ventilated during work on the refrigerant circuit.
    • Refrigerant detection equipment must be suitable for flammable refrigerants and intrinsically safe.
    • Appropriate fire extinguishing equipment (dry powder or CO2) must be available during hot work.
    • Repairs to sealed components require disconnecting electrical supplies and ensuring the casing's protection level is maintained.
    • Leak detection methods should use electronic leak detectors calibrated for flammable refrigerants, avoiding halide torches or naked flames.
    • Refrigerant removal and evacuation procedures involve purging with inert gas (OFN) and recovery into designated cylinders.
    • Charging procedures require careful attention to prevent contamination, ensure proper earthing, and avoid overfilling.
    • Decommissioning involves safely removing refrigerant and labeling the equipment.
    • Disposal of equipment with flammable refrigerants must follow national regulations.
    • Storage and transport of units with flammable refrigerants must comply with specific regulations and manufacturer instructions, ensuring mechanical damage does not cause refrigerant leaks.
