Engine Description

Crankcase

Single-piece cast-iron crankcase with underslung crankshaft, featuring drillings for water and oil distribution.

Crankshaft

Low alloy steel, forged in one piece and fully machined, with counterweights and optional torsional vibration damper.

Main bearings

Thin-walled bearing shells fitted to both main and big end bearings for engine support.

Connecting rods

Drop-forged from alloyed steel and fully machined with serrated joints on big ends.

Big end bearings

Identical to main bearings, providing support for the connecting rod big ends.

Pistons

One or two-part pistons with chromium plated piston rings and scraper rings, featuring a fully floating piston pin.

Cylinder heads

Special cast iron heads with two inlet/exhaust valves; Nimonic alloy valves for HFO engines.

Camshaft

Composed of individual segments, with one segment for each cylinder.

Fuel injection pumps

Individual helix-controlled fuel injection pumps for each cylinder.

Governor

Specifies the Woodward UG8 / PGA12 type governor for engine speed control.

Turbocharger

Mounted on the front end, identified as ABB VTR type or Napier.

Pump drive

Includes oil pump, cooling water pump, and fuel booster pump mounted on the front end.

Fuel system

Pressurized by a built-on feed pump; fuel circulates over the day tank; external supply is optional.

Lubricating oil system

Features a built-on gear pump for oil flow and pressure, with cooler and filter.

Starting air system

Direct air starting system supplying air to individual cylinder heads via a main starting valve.

Cooling water system
