Do you have a question about the Watson-Marlow qdos H-FLO and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Watson-Marlow Qdos H-FLO pump is a peristaltic chemical metering and dosing pump designed for high flow rates, offering high precision with an accuracy of ±1% and repeatability of ±0.5% in dosing. It consists of a pump drive and a ReNu pumphead. The unique ReNu pumphead technology ensures minimal maintenance downtime and fully contains fluid, reducing contamination risk. Its patented design allows for accurate and repeatable flow across a wide range of fluid viscosities.

Function Description:

The Qdos H-FLO pump facilitates controlled fluid movement through a fluid path using the principle of positive displacement from the pumphead. It is designed for use in ordinary safe locations. The pump offers various control models, including Manual, Universal, Universal+, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET, catering to different application needs. Control connections are available in M-Type (M12 connectors) and T-Type (user-wired cable gland connections).

The Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is a TFT display with keys, used for configuring and operating the pump. It provides access to various menus for settings, modes, and information. The HOME screen displays the current operating mode, pump label, keypad lock status, auto-start mode status, pump speed and units, and pump running status. The INFO screen provides user-selected features, set values, a visual flow rate bar, and revolution counter status. The MAIN MENU offers sub-menus for Fluid Level Monitor, Security Settings, General Settings, MODE Menu, Control Settings, and Help.

Usage Features:

  • HMI Navigation: Uses soft keys and +/- keys for menu selection and value adjustment.
  • Operating Modes: Manual (default), Flow Calibration, Analog 4-20mA, Contact, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and Fluid Recovery.
  • Manual Mode: Allows setting drive speed and starting/stopping the pump from the keypad. The MAX key runs the pump at maximum speed (lower of speed limit or pumphead RFID max speed), useful for priming.
  • Flow Calibration: Calibrates flow rate after fluid path installation, maintenance, or pumphead/fluid changes.
  • Analog 4-20mA Mode (Universal/Universal+): Pump speed is proportional to an external mA signal. Calibration involves setting minimum and maximum speed versus mA signal. Scaling factor can multiply the gradient of the 4-20mA profile.
  • Contact Mode (Universal/Universal+): Delivers user-defined dose volumes (0.1 mL to 999 L) manually or via external positive voltage pulses. Pulse specifications: 40 ms (min) to 1000 ms (max) pulse duration, >1s interval. Features include "Ignore pulses" or "Add pulses" for handling pulses during dosing.
  • Fluid Recovery Mode: Allows the pump to operate in reverse to recover fluid from the discharge line, primarily for maintenance. Can be manual or analog-controlled.
  • Security Settings: Auto keypad lock (locks after 30 seconds of inactivity) and PIN protection (requires PIN for mode/setting changes).
  • General Settings: Auto restart (returns to previous operating state after power loss), Flow units (sets display preferences), Asset number (user-defined alphanumeric ID), Pump label (user-defined label for home screen), Restore defaults, Language, and USB update.
  • Control Settings: Speed limit (user-defined maximum pump speed), Reset run hours, Reset volume counter, Revolution counter (sets alarm for pumphead end-of-life), Configure inputs (polarity and assignment for Start/Stop, Contact, Fluid Recovery), Configure outputs (defines function of four configurable relay outputs), Scaling factor, and Floating ground (for connecting multiple pumps in series to a single 4-20mA signal).
  • Network Control (PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET): Allows integration into respective networks using GSD/EDS/GSDML files. Network parameters can be configured manually or via DHCP.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pumphead Replacement: The pumphead is a consumable item and can be replaced. Instructions detail removal and fitting procedures, including handling residual chemicals and draining the pumphead.
  • Leak Detection: The pump features a leak detection sensor. Upon detection, a "Pump stopped. Pumphead has expired." message is displayed, requiring pumphead replacement.
  • Revolution Counter: Monitors pumphead revolutions to provide a warning before it reaches its end-of-life, allowing for proactive replacement.
  • Run Hours and Volume Counters: Track total operating hours and pumped volume to aid in maintenance scheduling.
  • Troubleshooting: The HMI displays error codes (e.g., Err0-Err50) with suggested actions for common issues like FRAM errors, motor stalled, tacho fault, speed error, overcurrent, over/under voltage, over temperature, signal out of range, overpower, and internal comms errors.
  • Technical Support: Contact information for Watson-Marlow is provided for assistance with unresolved errors or breakdowns.
  • Warranty: Two-year warranty from shipment date, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Exclusions include consumable items, normal wear and tear, misuse, accidental damage, electrical surges, incorrect wiring, chemical attack, ancillaries, UV light damage, and disassembly attempts.
  • Returning Pumps: Products must be thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated before return, with a decontamination declaration provided. A Returns Authorisation Number is required.
  • Product End of Life: The drive must be taken to an approved recycling center for disposal. The pumphead should be drained and disposed of according to local regulations.
