99. Eye Hand Reaction Time Measurement
Two switch lights are set on a table three feet apart. Trainee depresses the left switch light, and
then immediately depress the right button. The display will record the reaction time in
milliseconds.
100. Simulating A Pitched Ball To Be Hit By A Bat, Racket Or Hand
This uses the Speed-Trac anticipator and the Infra-Red Sensor. Random variable speed 25 to 40
mph. "Pitch" delay 1 to 4 seconds. It is recommended that the Speed-Trac be placed on a table
at least 30 inches above the floor. The Speed-Trac can also be hung horizontally oh the wall using
the punched small holes. Adjust the sensitivity of the infra-red sensor beam according to the
instructions in the manual. Test the sensor by swinging the bat (racket or hand) no closer than 12
inches and no further than five feet from the top of the sensor (if a reflector is used, the
response range can be over 20 feet). An auditory tone is produced when the sensor has been
correctly adjusted. Connect the Speed-Trac to the computer connection on the rear of the unit.
The infra-red sensor is plugged into the connector on the Speed-Trac. Refer to detailed
instruction manual. To reset the Speed-Trac, swing through the beam in a reverse direction. The
yellow light at the opposite end of the trac (simulating the pitcher's mound) will start flashing
"on & off". Swing the bat (racket or hand) the instant the lights speed (ball) toward you. The
moving light will freeze at the instant the bat (racket or hand) interupts the sensor beam. The
last light on the trac should freeze if the bat (racket or hand) connected at the proper time. If the
light freezes before reaching the front light, then the anticipation and the swing were too early.
This "early" anticipation and the time will be recorded on the display. If the beam is intercepted
after the "ball" passes over the plate the light will freeze in the top area of the trac. The display
will record a "late" anticipation. (Note: if the red led is illuminated on the center of the trac, it
would indicate that the ball is off the scale, and the time is meaningless.)
101. Anticipator Speed-Trac Constant Speed
Effective speed 20 mph. "Pitch" delay 2.5 to 5.5 sec.
