Overview

The Webasto Go Mobile Charger is a portable power supply designed for charging electric vehicles in accordance with IEC 62752, charge mode 2. It is compatible with a variety of battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, operating from a 120 – 240 VAC (Single Phase) 50-60 Hz power source. The charger ensures that voltage is not applied until the vehicle is correctly connected and calibrates the maximum power.

Function Description:

The Webasto Go Mobile Charger provides AC power to your electric vehicle. Its core function is to safely manage the charging process, ensuring that the vehicle receives the correct voltage and current. The charger features a control box that houses the intelligence for the charging process, including safety mechanisms and communication with the vehicle. It comes with two adapters: one high power and one low power, allowing for versatile usage in various locations and with different power sources. The charger's design prioritizes safety, incorporating features like service ground check, thermal event sensor, and GFCI protection to mitigate risks of electric shock and overheating.

Usage Features:

The Webasto Go Mobile Charger is designed for ease of use with quick-read status indicators. The indicator light on the charger provides immediate feedback on its status. A BLUE indicator signifies that the charger is ready for use, pulsing on and off every two seconds during charging, and illuminating solid blue when charging is complete. An AMBER indicator signals that the charger is rebooting after an error, while a RED indicator illuminates when an error is detected, indicating that power will not be delivered to the vehicle until the error is resolved.

To begin charging, ensure the vehicle is in park (P). Firmly insert the appropriate adapter into the control box until an audible "click" is heard, ensuring it is fully inserted and flush. Then, firmly insert the other end of the adapter into a properly grounded wall socket. After the wall plug is inserted, the AMBER, BLUE, and RED indicators will blink once, followed by a sequence of BLUE and RED blinks, then the BLUE indicator turning OFF and then ON again. This cycle occurs twice if a different adapter is used from the previous charge. Finally, plug the coupler into your vehicle's charging inlet. For Type 1 couplers, an audible clicking sound confirms full insertion, while Type 2 couplers lock in place.

The charger includes an auto-restart feature to ensure continuous charging. If an error is detected and charging is interrupted, the system will attempt to resume once the error is no longer present. However, if the interruption is due to a ground fault circuit interruption (GFCI), the charger will attempt to restart 15 minutes after the event. After a fourth unsuccessful attempt, the charger will shut down, and the RED indicator will remain ON, requiring user intervention.

The Webasto Go Mobile Charger is portable and compact, making it convenient for use in various settings, both indoors and outdoors. It is recommended to install the wall hanger in practical proximity to both the utility receptacle and the vehicle's charge receptacle, preferably mounted to a wall stud. Drywall and masonry installations require appropriate fasteners. Before drilling, verify that the control box will fit in the hanger when plugged in.

Maintenance Features:

The Webasto Go Mobile Charger requires minimal maintenance, primarily focusing on safe handling and storage. It is crucial to avoid using hard cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the unit. The charger cables should not be kinked or subjected to undue stress. If the charger overheats, it should be moved out of direct sunlight.

Regular visual inspection of the cable, charge coupler, and charger module for any damage is essential before each use. If any visual damage is apparent, the charger should not be operated, and the contractual partner should be contacted for assistance. Users are explicitly warned not to attempt to repair the cable themselves if it becomes separated from the control box or charger coupler. Similarly, there are no user-serviceable parts inside the product, and any repairs or servicing should only be carried out by qualified personnel.

For cleaning, the charger should be disconnected from the wall socket. It can be wiped with a clean cloth dampened with water or a mild detergent solution suitable for automobile paint. Chemicals or solvents should not be used, and the charger should never be submerged in any fluid.

When moving or storing the device, it is important to follow proper procedures to prevent damage that could lead to fire or electric shock. The device should not be lifted or carried by the flexible cord or the EV cable. It should be stored in a clean, dry place within a temperature range of -22 °F to +185 °F (-30 °C to +85 °C). The Webasto Go Mobile Charger should not be operated at altitudes exceeding 13,123 ft. (4000 m) above sea level.

In case of troubleshooting, if the mobile charger encounters a fault, users are advised to ensure the adapter and control box are properly connected, disconnect and reconnect them. If the charger is warm or in a hot environment, charging in a cooler area or trying a different wall socket or adapter is recommended. If the error persists, the contractual partner should be contacted for support. For non-recoverable faults or ground leakage faults, immediate action such as turning off the circuit breaker and contacting the contractual partner is necessary.
