The excess flow safety device may have activated. To reset it, turn off all burner control knobs and the cylinder valve. Disconnect the regulator from the cylinder. Turn burner control knobs to “HI” and wait at least 1 minute. Then, turn burner control knobs to “OFF”. Reconnect the regulator to the cylinder. Turn the cylinder valve on slowly. Refer to “Lighting Instructions”.

Also, be sure to hold the control knob in for two seconds after snapping the igniter and seeing the orange flame from the burner lighting tube. The lid is porcelain enamel or stainless steel, not paint, so it cannot “peel”. The residue you see is likely baked-on grease that has turned to carbon and is flaking off. This is not a defect. Clean the lid thoroughly.
