The CPU will be put into a state which will halt its
operation and not allow it to resume unless the power is
cycled.
The system error conditions
to be tested for and their codes are
as follows:

EPROM FAILURE -
Indicates the EPROM checksum was in
error at power up. If not recoverable replace
U505 then U503
If the problem is not resolved by
replacing U505 or U503 then check for Buss loading,
open traces,
or shorted traces between
U505 and
U503.

UNDEFINED INTERRUPT ERROR - If not recoverable
replace U503 then U505.
E06
OPCODE TRAP ERROR - If not recoverable replace U503

6.10 ERROR MESSAGES

The GSI 17 will display a Diagnostic
Error Message should a
condition exist which may cause incorrect or unreliable operation
of the instrument.
If an error is detected normal operation of
the instrument will be aborted and the instrument will stop
operating.
The condition of the error will be indicated to the
operator by displaying an abort code on digits 1, 2, and 3 of the
HL Display.
The error message will be displayed in the format of
"Exx"
where xx is a 2 digit abort number to identify the type of
abort.
When a system error
occurs which causes the instrument to halt
operation,
the following will occur:
1.
If the channel i s "ON" it will be turned OFF.
2.
All transducers will be disconnected from the channel.
3.
The Watch Dog (COP) timer and clock monitor will be
disabled.
RAM FAILURE - If not recoverable replace U503.
WATCH DOG TIMER ERROR -
If not recoverable replace

CPU CLOCK FAILURE
- If not recoverable replace
