Why is my Westinghouse WQE6870BA ice maker not making any ice?
    • M
      Michael BrennanAug 20, 2025
The ice maker might be off. Turn it on by pressing the ice maker on-off button once for the fresh food ice maker. Also, the refrigerator might not be connected to the water line, or the water valve isn't open. Connect the unit to the household water supply and ensure the water valve is open. The water supply line could be kinked, so make sure it doesn't kink when the refrigerator is pushed into place. The water filter might not be seated properly; remove and reinstall it, ensuring it's fully seated in the locked position. The water filter may also be clogged; replace it if water dispenses slowly or not at all, or if the filter is six months old or older.

Why is food freezing in my Westinghouse WQE6870BA?
    • H
      hilljasonAug 22, 2025
Food might be freezing because the temperature setting is too low; move the setting to a higher degree. Also, the temperature sensor might be covered by food (right side of fresh food area), so allow space for air flow to the sensor. Food could also be covering the air ports, so allow space between the air ports and the food.

Why is my Westinghouse WQE6870BA Refrigerator ice maker not making enough ice?
    • K
      Kim StevensonAug 25, 2025
The ice maker produces approximately 1 kg of ice every 24 hours, depending on usage conditions. If it's producing less, the water filter may be clogged; replace it if water dispenses slower than normal or if the filter is six months old or older. Ensure the water supply line isn't kinked when the refrigerator is pushed into place. If you have a well system, have someone turn up the cut-off and cut-on pressure on the water pump system. If you have a reverse osmosis system, it's normal for it to be below 137 kPa (20 psi) during the regenerative phase.

Why are my Westinghouse Refrigerator ice cubes freezing together?
    • S
      Steven MckeeAug 27, 2025
Ice cubes might be freezing together because they are not being used frequently enough, or there was an interruption of power for a prolonged time. Remove the ice container and discard the ice. The ice maker will produce a fresh supply. Use ice at least twice weekly to keep the cubes separated. Hollow ice cubes (shells of ice with water inside) can also cause this. This generally occurs when the ice maker does not get enough water, usually due to a clogged water filter or restricted water supply. Replace the water filter, and if the condition still occurs, check to see if the water valve is not turned on all the way or if there is a kinked water supply line.

How to fix Westinghouse Refrigerator doors that will not close?
    • J
      james87Aug 28, 2025
If the doors won't close, it might be because a door was closed too hard, causing the other door to open slightly. Close both doors gently. The refrigerator might not be level, so ensure the floor is level and solid, and can adequately support the refrigerator. Contact a carpenter to correct a sagging or sloping floor. Also, the refrigerator could be touching a wall or cabinet, so ensure it is not. Check the gasket and cabinet interface for any obstructions; clean the refrigerator door gaskets and interface with warm, soapy water to remove any grease, dirt, and grime from the surface. Wipe clean with a dry cloth, and inspect the gasket to make sure it is thoroughly clean.

Why is my Westinghouse WQE6870BA water not cold enough?
    • J
      Joshua WilsonAug 30, 2025
As warmer tap water goes through the filter and enters the water supply system, the chilled water is pushed through to the dispenser. Once the chilled water is used up, it will take several hours to bring the freshly replaced water to a cooler temperature. Add ice to cup or container before dispensing water.

Why are the drawers difficult to move in my Westinghouse WQE6870BA?
    • D
      Danielle TylerAug 31, 2025
Drawers may be difficult to move because food is touching the shelf on top of the drawer. Remove the top layer of items in the drawer. The track that drawers slide on might also be dirty. Ensure the drawer is properly installed on the track, and clean the drawer, rollers, and track.

What to do if my Westinghouse Refrigerator dispenser is not dispensing water?
    • G
      Gabriel GibsonSep 2, 2025
If your dispenser isn't dispensing water, the water filter may not be seated properly. Remove and reinstall the water filter, rotating it to the right until it stops and the grip end is vertical. Also, the water filter could be clogged, so replace the filter cartridge, ensuring it's rotated to the right until it stops and the grip end is vertical. Finally, the household water line valve might not be open, so open the household water line valve.

Why is my Westinghouse WQE6870BA Refrigerator running too much or too long?
    • M
      Michael CarsonSep 4, 2025
Your variable speed compressor is designed to run 100% of the time except during the defrost cycle. At times it will run faster, such as after a defrost cycle. It is normal for the compressor to run continuously except during defrost mode.
