Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the Whirlpool dishwasher, covering its functions, usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Whirlpool dishwasher is designed to efficiently clean dishes using various wash programs and customizable options. It features a control panel with buttons for power, program selection, and special functions like "Half load," "Antibacterial rinse," "Delayed start," "Quick Wash," and "Tablets selector." Indicator lights provide visual feedback on the selected program, salt and rinse aid levels, and activated options.

The "On/Off button" powers the dishwasher, illuminating the last selected program's indicator light and emitting an audible signal at the cycle's end. The "Programme selection button" allows users to choose from a range of wash cycles, with the corresponding indicator light illuminating.

Indicator lights for "Add regeneration salt" and "Add rinse aid" prompt users to replenish these consumables. Salt should be added immediately before starting a wash program.

Usage Features

The dishwasher offers several options to tailor the wash cycle:

  • Half load selector button: Ideal for smaller wash loads, distributing dishes over both racks. When activated, its indicator light illuminates.
  • Antibacterial rinse (Sani Rinse option): Adds an antibacterial rinse at the end of the cycle for enhanced hygiene. If the temperature is not maintained (e.g., due to an open door or power cut), program indicator lights will flash, signaling that the sanitizing effect is not guaranteed.
  • "Delayed start" button: Allows programming the wash cycle to start after 1-12 hours. A pre-wash cycle runs when the door is closed, followed by the delayed start countdown.
  • Quick Wash: Shortens the duration of any wash program (except pre-rinse) by 10% to 55%, depending on the selected program. Activated by pressing the "Quick Wash" button after program selection.
  • Tablets selector: Optimizes the wash cycle for combined detergents (detergent, rinse aid, and/or salt in one tablet). Activated by simultaneously pressing the "Antibacterial rinse" and "Quick Wash" buttons, which illuminates the "Tablet" indicator light. For powder or liquid detergents, this indicator must be off.

Program Table

The manual details various wash programs with their loading tips, detergent requirements (A and B), and consumption (litres, kWh, minutes):

  • Pre-wash cold: For dishes to be washed later. (3.5 litres, 0.02 kWh, 15 minutes)
  • Delicate 45°C: For lightly soiled items with no dried-on food. (Detergent A, 9.5 litres, 1.10 kWh, 65 minutes)
  • Rapid 38°C: For light soiling, such as glasses and cups. (Detergent A, 11 litres, 0.85 kWh, 45 minutes)
  • Eco 50°C: For normally soiled items (reference program for energy label). (Detergent A, 10 litres, 1.03 kWh, 165 minutes)
  • Eco fast 60°C: For normally soiled items without final drying. (Detergent A, 12.5 litres, 1.25 kWh, 70 minutes)
  • Normal 65°C: For normally or heavily soiled dishes. (Detergent A, 13.5 litres, 1.35 kWh, 115 minutes)
  • Normal fast 70°C: For normally or heavily soiled dishes without final drying. (Detergent A, 14 litres, 1.4 kWh, 75 minutes)
  • Super 70°C: Recommended for heavily soiled dishes, ideal for pots and pans. (Detergent A, 15.5 litres, 1.6 kWh, 135 minutes)
  • Intensive fast 65°C: For mixed soiling without dried-on food, without final drying. (Detergent A and B, 9.5 litres, 1.35 kWh, 55 minutes)

Note: If "Pre-wash" is selected, supplementary functions are unavailable. Program data is based on European standard EN 50242 and may vary with usage, load, water temperature, hardness, and power supply.

How to Use the Appliance

  1. Open the door and press the "On/Off" button.
  2. Fill the detergent dispenser: Large compartment A, small compartment B.
  3. Check rinse aid level: Mechanical indicator C or electric indicator on the control panel.
  4. Check salt level: Mechanical indicator D (on models with water softener system) or electrical indicator light on the control panel.
  5. Load the racks according to instructions.
  6. Select a program using the button until the desired program lights up.
  7. Select required options (if necessary), with corresponding indicator lights illuminating.
  8. Turn on the water tap and close the door to start the program.
  9. Wash cycle: Only open the door if necessary (beware of steam). If switched off during a cycle, it resumes from the point of interruption when switched back on.
  10. Switch off the appliance: At the end of the program, an audible signal sounds, and indicator lights 4 + 5 (marked "end") illuminate. Open the door and press the "On/Off" button to switch off all lights.
  11. Turn off the water tap and unload dishes, starting from the bottom rack (be careful of steam).

Loading the Dishwasher Racks

  • Upper rack: Features cup support racks (A) that can be raised or lowered. Glasses should be placed in the middle and right, dishes to the left, under the cup supports. Long, narrow utensils (carving forks, knives) go on the bottom of the rack, not crosswise, with sharp ends pointing inwards.
  • Rack height adjustment: Release catches (B) on both rack rails, pull out the rack, reposition it at the desired height, and lock the catches. The rack must be level.
  • Lower rack: Equipped with tilting plate holders.
  • Cutlery basket: Has removable inserts for proper spacing. Cutlery should be evenly distributed with handles pointing downwards, avoiding injury from sharp items. It accommodates most cutlery types, except longer items that might obstruct the upper spray arm. Ladles, wooden spoons, and kitchen knives should be placed in the upper rack, ensuring ends do not protrude. The basket slides crosswise and can be positioned anywhere in the lower rack.

Only use dishwasher-proof dishes. Avoid washing wooden items, aluminum, plastic utensils, tin, hand-decorated crockery (unglazed), and silver cutlery.
