To troubleshoot a door latch that is not operating on your Whirlpool Range: 1. First, verify the error code by pressing and holding the CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds, then momentarily press CANCEL again to remove the error code display. 2. Next, program and start the Clean mode to see if the door locks. If it doesn't, check the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to identify the problem. Note that if the door doesn't lock, the F5 E1 code will reappear one minute after starting the Clean mode; press CANCEL to clear it. 3. After fixing any mechanical issues, start a Clean cycle again to ensure the door lock operates correctly, canceling it immediately afterward to check the door unlock function.
