Overview

This document provides instructions for use of a Whirlpool washing machine, model WB70803. It serves as a comprehensive guide for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

This appliance is a top-load washing machine designed for private domestic use. It is capable of washing various types of laundry with different programs and customizable settings. The machine features a fuzzy logic function that automatically detects the wash load weight and selects appropriate water power, water level, wash and spin times, and rinse type for "NORMAL" and "HEAVY DUTY" programs. Users can also manually adjust these settings for other programs or specific preferences. The washing machine supports hot, cold, and warm water washes, requiring connection to both hot and cold water taps. It also includes a preset timer for delayed washing, a child lock function, and a memory function for frequently used programs.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Dimensions: 540 (W) x 562 (D) x 940 (H) mm
  • Max. capacity: 7 kg
  • Weight: 36 kg
  • Rated voltage: 230-240 V ~ 50 Hz
  • Rated power: 400 W
  • Required water pressure: 0.03 - 0.8 MPa
  • Waterproof grade: IPX4

Usage Features

The washing machine's control panel includes several buttons and indicators for easy operation:

  • Detergent indicators: These scoop indicators suggest the amount of powder detergent to use based on water level.
  • Digital display: Shows selected options, remaining time, set times for soak/wash processes, finish time for preset timer, and warning codes.
  • Start/Pause button: Initiates, temporarily stops, and restarts operation. It can also cancel the end buzzer by holding for 4 seconds.
  • Water Level button: Allows selection of water level appropriate for the load size, with different levels optional for washing and rinsing.
  • Process and Set buttons: The "Process" button selects the desired wash process (preset, soak, wash time, rinse time, or spin time), with the corresponding indicator light flashing. The "Set" button then selects the desired option within that process. For "NORMAL" and "HEAVY DUTY" programs, the machine automatically selects water power, level, and times.
  • Program button: Selects the desired wash program, with the corresponding indicator light flashing. Holding this button for 4 seconds activates the child lock.
  • Temp. button: Selects the water temperature (cold, warm, or hot).
  • Power On/Off button: Switches the machine on and off. It also allows program changes by pressing twice. The machine automatically switches off after 5 seconds post-program completion or 10 minutes of inactivity.

Programs:

The machine offers various wash programs:

  • Cotton: For normally to heavily soiled robust cottons, with fixed soak, wash, rinse, spin times, and water level, and a default warm wash.
  • Normal: For normally soiled everyday clothing and other items, with auto settings for wash, rinse, and spin.
  • Heavy Duty: For heavily soiled cotton clothing/items, with auto settings for wash, rinse, and spin.
  • Blanket: For blankets or bulky items, with specific wash, rinse, and spin times. Automatically selects the highest water level (60L), adjustable down to 42L.
  • Delicate: For delicate fabrics and lingerie, with specific wash, rinse, and spin times.
  • Quick: For less dirty clothes (daily wash), with specific wash, rinse, and spin times.

Customization:

While "NORMAL" and "HEAVY DUTY" programs use fuzzy logic, users can customize soak time (0-40 minutes), wash time (0-20 minutes), rinse time (0-4 times), and spin time (0-9 minutes) for other programs. Water power can also be adjusted from weakest (L4) to strongest (H4) for most programs, except "COTTON," "DELICATE," and "BLANKET."

Preset Timer (Delayed Washing):

This function allows users to set the time (0-24 hours) after which the washing program will finish. It is not available for "COTTON," "DELICATE," and "QUICK" programs. Detergents should be added to the detergent box or wrapped in a small cloth for powder, or poured into the top plate hole for liquid detergent/bleach to avoid direct contact with clothes.

Fabric Softener:

The machine can be programmed to stop before the last rinse, displaying "SF" and beeping, to allow users to add diluted fabric softener directly into the tub.

Child Lock:

When activated, opening the lid for 5 seconds triggers an alarm and stops the machine. Activated by holding the "Program" button for 4 seconds after powering on.

Start of Washing:

The machine begins washing when the water reaches two levels below the set level, continuing to fill during the initial wash phase. This ensures detergent dissolves fully. This feature is ineffective for the first two water levels (20L or 25L), "DELICATE" or "BLANKET" programs, or when "SOAK" is selected.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for prolonging the washing machine's service life. Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before any cleaning or maintenance.

  • Cleaning the washing machine (housing and lid): Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe off water or dirt. Avoid chemical, alkaline, or abrasive cleaning agents and direct water spray.
  • Cleaning the detergent box: Can be pulled out for cleaning.
  • Cleaning the inner tub: For frequent cold washes or fabric softener use, clean the inside of the machine every three months to prevent scum buildup, bacteria, and odors. Run a cleaning cycle with the "COTTON" program and hot water, using a washing machine cleaner or a mix of bicarbonate of soda (1/2 cup) and white household vinegar (2 cups).
  • Cleaning the lint filter: Suggested weekly. Remove, open, rinse under running water, and securely reinstall.
  • Cleaning the water inlet valve mesh filter: Suggested every 6 months. Turn off water supply, detach the water inlet hose, remove the mesh filter from the valve, clean with a soft brush, and reassemble.
  • Cleaning the hose filter: Suggested every 6 months. Turn off water supply, detach the water inlet hose by turning the nut anticlockwise, clean the filter under running water or with a soft brush, and reconnect.
  • Drain pump maintenance: Suggested monthly to prevent blockages from pins, coins, and lint. Disconnect power, wait for water to cool, place a container under the pump opening, turn the filter cap anticlockwise to remove, clean objects from the filter under running water, and reinsert the cap and filter.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides solutions for common issues like the washer not starting, water leaks, water intake during cycles, intermittent spinning, and error messages (E1 for water flow, E2 for drain, E3 for spin, E4 for lid, E5 for child lock, EA/EC for other problems). If problems persist, users are advised to contact an authorized service center.
