4. Design and function
4.1 Description
The eld indicators model DIHxx are external display and operating units without separate
power supply for 4 … 20 mA/HART
®
sensors. The instruments are used for measured
value display and operation remote from the measuring point. They are looped anywhere
in the 4 … 20 mA signal line and measure the current in the current loop. At the same time,
they read and display the measured values with unit via the HART
®
signal.
The eld indicators are powered directly from the 4 ... 20 mA current loop, with a resultant
voltage drop of less than 3 V.
The eld indicators meet the requirements of:

Explosion protection (depending on the version)
■
Electromagnetic compatibility in accordance with DIN EN 61326 and NAMUR
recommendation NE21
