Do you have a question about the WMF 1200S and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The WMF 1200S is a fully automatic coffee machine designed for commercial use, offering a wide range of coffee and chocolate beverages. It is equipped with features for ease of use, maintenance, and consistent beverage quality.

Function Description:

The WMF 1200S is capable of preparing various coffee specialties, including those with milk, and hot chocolate. Users can select beverages via an illuminated ring interface. The machine allows for adjustment of coffee strength, offering options for 15% stronger or 15% weaker coffee, which can be set prior to beverage selection. It features a combi spout that dispenses both coffee and milk, and an adjustable foamer to accommodate different cup sizes. The machine is designed for plumbed milk systems, indicating a direct connection to a milk supply for continuous operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Coffee Bean Hopper Capacity: Holds 500 grams of fresh roasted beans.
  • Chocolate Hopper Capacity: Holds one bag of vending chocolate.
  • Cleaning Procedure Duration: Most cleaning procedures, such as the machine clean for the Easy Milk system, take approximately 15 minutes.
  • Milk System Cleaning Tablet: Requires WMF certified milk cleaning tablets, specifically RINZA tablets for milk system exchange and cleaning.
  • Coffee System Cleaning Tablet: Requires URNEX tablets for the main machine clean.
  • Water Tank: Machines with a water tank require a 2L container to be placed under the combi spout during certain cleaning cycles.
  • Power Switch: Located under the front lip of the machine.

Usage Features:

  • Beverage Selection: Products are selected by pressing an illuminated ring next to the desired beverage. For products on the lower level, the ring needs to be pressed twice. Dispensing can be stopped by pressing the ring again.
  • Coffee Strength Control: Users can increase or decrease coffee strength by pressing the '+' or '-' buttons before selecting a product.
  • Spout Position: The adjustable foamer should be set approximately 10mm above the top lip of the cup for optimal dispensing.
  • Coffee Grounds Container: To empty, the combi spout must be pushed up, a metal slide raised, and the container pulled out. After emptying, it should be rinsed and replaced.
  • Refilling Coffee Hoppers: Hoppers should be filled with fresh coffee just below the lid line. All hoppers should be filled to the same level as they empty at the same rate. The machine will prompt the operator to refill when coffee runs out. Care must be taken to prevent foreign debris from falling into the hopper during refilling.

Maintenance Features:

The WMF 1200S requires regular cleaning to ensure optimal performance and hygiene. Cleaning intervals are categorized as daily, weekly, and monthly.

Daily Cleaning:

  • System Cleaning: General system cleaning.
  • Clean Screen (CleanLock): Cleaning of the machine's display screen.
  • Grounds Container Cleaning: Emptying and cleaning the coffee grounds container.

    2. Confirm that the drip tray has been emptied.
    3. Disconnect and clean the milk hose and milk container.
    4. Place a cleaning tablet for the milk system (RINZA) into the empty blue cleaning container.
    5. Place the cleaning container into the cooler and insert the milk hose, leaving the cooler door open.
    6. For machines with a water tank, place a 2L container under the combi spout.
    7. Confirm the cleaning container is inserted.
    8. Add a cleaning tablet (URNEX) into the manual insert and close it.
    9. The machine cleaning will start, including mixer rinsing if chocolate beverages were dispensed.
    10. The clean cycle takes approximately 11 minutes.
    11. After the cycle, remove and rinse the cleaning container.
    12. Place the milk container back into the cooler and a container under the combi spout for a final rinse.
    13. The machine will perform a rinse cycle, filling hoses with milk and then a foamer rinse.

Weekly Cleaning:

  • Clean the Brewing Unit: Specific cleaning of the internal brewing mechanism.
  • Drip Tray Cleaning: Cleaning of the drip tray.
  • Milk System Manual Clean: Manual cleaning of the milk system components.
  • Milk System Exchange & Clean: Recommended at least once every 24 hours, but typically done weekly in conjunction with a spare clean foamer.
    1. Pull forward the lever behind the combi spout.
    2. Remove the combi spout and milk hose from the container.
    3. Dismantle the combi spout into separate pieces and immerse them, along with the remaining milk hose, in a cleaning solution.
    4. Re-mount a spare, clean foamer, chocolate hose, and milk line.
    5. Fill a container with warm water and add one RINZA tablet. Place the dirty foamer and milk line in this solution to soak for 5 hours.
    6. After soaking, rinse all pieces under tap water and dry them.
    7. Store the cleaned components in a lidded tub to prevent contamination for the next weekly exchange.
  • Clean the Mixer: Cleaning of the mixer unit, likely for chocolate beverages.

Monthly Cleaning:

  • Bean Hopper Cleaning: Recommended at the end of each month.
    1. Turn off the coffee machine and disconnect the mains plug.
    2. Unlock hoppers using a multitool by turning clockwise.
    3. Lift out and empty the hopper.
    4. Unscrew the union nut at the front and rear, then remove the dosing auger.
    5. Thoroughly wipe out the hopper with a damp cloth and clean individual dosing auger components.
    6. Allow all components to dry completely before reassembling. Hoppers should never be cleaned in a dishwasher.
    7. Important Hopper Reassembly: Ensure the hopper is reassembled correctly, using the provided exploded diagram as a guide. The half-moon opening must be at the top before re-inserting the hopper.
  • Clean Powder Hopper: Cleaning of the powder hopper, likely for chocolate.

The WMF 1200S is designed to be user-friendly with clear instructions for operation and maintenance, ensuring a consistent coffee experience and longevity of the machine.
