Charging
General remarks
Test alternator
While the engine is running, the charger checks the voltage the alternator is supplying to
the battery.
10. Alternator test running. Let engine run for approx. 30 seconds at 1500-2000 rpm

Warning! Risk of explosion from short circuits and arcs. Before connecting to/
disconnecting from battery, disconnect charger from mains supply. During
operation, check that charging terminals and battery poles are properly con-
nected.
Charge battery To start charging, proceed as follows:
1. Switch off engine and ignition, shed all loads
2. Set selector switch to correct position
3. Establish connection to battery
4. Charger displays battery open circuit voltage
5. Connect charger to mains supply
6. Charger starts to charge
7. Charger displays current charge level as sequence of bars
Conservation

The charger changes over automatically to conservation charging once the battery is
fully charged. The charger continuously displays the fully charged symbol (4 bars).
Caution! Risk of damage when attempting to charge a faulty battery. Before
charging, ensure that the battery to be charged is fully functional.
12. To finish the test, disconnect from battery/connect charger to mains supply to begin
charging.
