This error can occur if XRT is built from
GitHub sources without Vitis software
platform installed and XILINX_VITIS
set. Prior to building XRT from GitHub
sources, install the Vitis software
platform and set up the Vitis
Environment to resolve this issue. See

Installation
Unexpected card behavior when
downgrading to beta package.
When downgrading to a beta package,
it is necessary to factory reset all U50
cards installed on the system.
Downgrading to a beta package
without first factory resetting all U50
cards installed on the system can result
in unexpected behavior. For beta
package installation, follow the
installation steps in version 1.4 of the
Alveo U50 Data Center Accelerator Card
Installation Guide (UG1370).
