If your Yamaha Outboard Motor's starter won't operate, here's what to check: * Ensure the engine stop switch lanyard is attached. * Make sure the shift lever is in neutral. * Check the battery condition; a weak or low battery can be the culprit. Use a battery with the recommended capacity. * Inspect battery connections for looseness or corrosion; tighten cables and clean terminals if needed. * Examine the fuse for the electric start circuit; if blown, check for the cause of the overload, repair, and replace the fuse with the correct amperage. * If none of these steps work, the starter components may be faulty, and you should have it serviced by a Yamaha dealer.
