SHALLOW WATER LEVER
(if equipped)
Pushing this lever down will tilt the motor up
partially to provide more clearance when
operating in shallow water.

TILT LOCK MECHANISM (for Manual
tilt model)
The tilt-lock mechanism is used to prevent
reverse thrust from the propeller lifting the
outboard motor when reversing.
To lock it, set the tilt-lock lever in the Lock
position.
To release it, place the tilt-lock lever in the
Tilt position.

TILT SUPPORT KNOB
To keep the outboard motor in the tilted-up
position, push the tilt support knob under the
swivel bracket.

TOP COWLING LOCK LEVER
To remove the engine top cowling, turn the
lock lever. Then lift off the cowling. When
replacing the cowling, check to be sure it fits
properly in the rubber seal. Then lock the
cowling again by moving the lever upward.
